Recording challenges for our first mid week Spiders Soundoff attempt

Sorry folks, we laid down 45 minutes of pretty good content with me being remote only to find a bad echo in the recording. We hope to do better going forward. A couple of nuggets for you that we had hoped to get out there.

Texas Women

Average about 7600 fans. One of the best in NCAAW bball. Expect tonight to be raucous.
Texas was up 29-2 on Incarnate Word w 90 seconds to go in the first half.
Booker is former Big 12 RoY of Year, Big !2 PoY, SEC PoY and Pre Season All American, she is one of the 3 best players in the country.
Crump is a top 5 recruit in the nation and looks awfully good.
Cunningham is 6'4" Big who is in front of 2 more 6'6" bigs. Cunningham is an AZ transfer and will give our 5's a real test.
Harmon is a stud PG who is a Nancy Lieberman finalist has scored 1200 pts and dished 700 assists, and is a Defensive PoY finalist
Lee was on the All SEC Freshman team last year while scoring 227 points.

And there is depth behind them. Net net, this may be the best team in the country. Three point shooting was a weakness last year but has been addressed.

East Carolina Men:

Tough first win against Ga Southern, who is not supposed to be good. Fell from 141 to 157 in KenPom. We are 119. JMU at 144, Mount St M at 249
KenPom says we are 70% likely to win w projected margin of 6
Evan Miya says Riley (22pts in 1st game) is best player but Woodard is best defender. Mberg dished 8 assists in game , Emejuru(6'10") had 17 points
TeamRankings has us at 151 and them at 170
They shot 41 FTs against Ga Southern which could be a prob given our tendency to foul in G1
Evan Miya has us at 131 and ECU at 139
Bartorvic has us at 130 and ECU at 147, sees a closer game than KenPom

We liked the additional 2600 ft of video in the RC
Did not like that they did not sell beer during the ladies game. One other hot take on the negative side pertaining to concessions I will save for Tom for Monday's episode.

As for the teams first games, much has been said here on Men's and Women's board we agree with. Argabright is going to be a stud, Daughtry is rapidly getting more comfortable. We have no idea what the So Va win tells us as they are an unknown. For the ladies, Persichetti is the next great Spider. Newell was fierce on defense, Ally might need to shoot more given how good the 3 point stroke looks, and of course getting to watch a full yr of Maggie is special.

I was surprised to see no beer sales at the Ladies game as well. Initially thought that they just had one location so took the loop around and didn’t see anything. I wonder if they never have done beer sales at Ladies events or tried it and there wasn’t enough demand. I typically have heartburn when paying for a beer at a sporting event, but since the ticket is affordable was going to throw some extra dollars into the revenue pool.

Of course, I did buy something to eat at concessions and wasn’t happy with the portion size. We will see if this is Tom’s gripe as well.

Sounds like per your description, if we lose by 20 to Texas, we played well. People are saying our ladies need to slow game down, but we may need to keep the pace up from 3/4 court pressing to keeping their bigs moving when we have the ball. Know they will press us with their length but that may give us more opportunities to attack and score. Lastly we are deep to some degree, but our second five need to be productive.

Not saying a 20 point loss will be good result. They (Texas) need to stop Maggie Doogan who is a top player in America and Rachel Ullstrom who is a top shooter in America. Also Ally Sweeney is a legit 3 pt weapon as well. The big difference is at the 5. Where they have a height and size advantage.

I can't see us winning this game this early in the season, but there is a good chance we keep it close. If we win, we are legit national title contenders. How's that.

Last year it was an 11 point loss. If the ladies can keep it that close at this point in the year with all the newcomers, then things are looking really good for the year ahead. Based on what I saw this week and the fact that this is a road game, I agree with @carolinaspider and the higher point differential. In other words, this is a major test and you have to admire Roussell’s belief in his team to be able to test them in this way at this point of the season.

Will be rooting hard for the ladies regardless. Go Spiders!
 
That stinks about the ruined audio. I'm sure this project is taking up a lot of time and effort. Appreciate you sharing the recap here. I will look forward to the Monday show drop. Hoping the Monday show has a big win over ECU to recap, with a 12 point, (3-4 from 3 and a monster dunk) 4 rebound effort from Bryson to discuss.
