he played great. one of the brightest spots on the team that night. can we not pick on him like he's an opponent?Beagle has small hands.

I don't know what it is , but Mooney hates to play him.McGlothin out performed Lopez, AP and Harper. Who all played more 32 minutes and shot 0-11 from behind the arc ans 1 for 12 over all and 5 pts ans 2 rebound . McGlorhin produced 4 points and 2 rebounds in 3 minutes.
McGlothin has connected on 3pointers in extra time vs JMU and vs Southern Virginia.
Curious to see does he get more opportunity moving forward or will he be hidden from us “the fans”!!!
If it’s obvious let us see it. Kid has played on top levels and is a gamer. When you watch him show me where scare or overthink shows up, that is basic coach stereotypical talk. I just say show me the obviously behind part.Obviously McG is behind on something and it also seems to me that he gets yelled at a bunch as he plays “scared”. Of course, we are never going to know and just have to hope he is able to work through it. McG definitely has the right physical attributes.
Just to be clear, I am saying that there is something “behind the scenes” that is keeping McG off the court. I have no idea what it is. So “obviously” is a poor word choice but I am saying that there is a reason. If it’s obvious let us see it. Kid has played on top levels and is a gamer. If kids can go 0-5, 0-4 and get multiple opportunities I need to see the obvious issue with McGlothin.
If this is true, we need to change the freaking system. Just like I said last year when they were redshirting because they weren't ready. Ready for what? A challenging system? Let's start catering to our players' strengths. If a guy is athletic and talented, do what we can to get minutes for him. And if we have talented recruits in here as freshman, find them minutes. Don't let the system hold them back.Obviously McG is behind on something and it also seems to me that he gets yelled at a bunch as he plays “scared”. He compares him to Justin Harper - I don't see our other wing guys comparing to an NBA level player. But just like this god awful schedule - we are to assume Mooney knows what he is doing. Not me. Fool me once, twice, three, four five, six, 15 times.
I will not fall for it on the 16th time!!!!
So thanks for clarity it was the “obviously” because we keep an eye on our Texas guys across the country and no one knows the reasoning here.Just to be clear, I am saying that there is something “behind the scenes” that is keeping McG off the court. I have no idea what it is. So “obviously” is a poor word choice but I am saying that there is a reason.
In terms of being “scared”, I am not questioning anything related to him not being tough or anything like that. I am just saying that internally something is rattling him and instead of just playing ball like you know he can, I see nervousness and uncertainty. Nothing that doesn’t happen to any young athlete. I used to see it with my kids too.
He definitely looked more comfortable initially in the Southern VA game and I hope he continues getting over the nerves. I think we all want to see his best and want to see that the redshirt development year works. As I have said in other threads, I am a believer in developing and keeping players. The new “transactional model” is destroying college athletics.
Hope we get a new data point on Saturday. Go Spiders!
Including Mooney right?if McG walked off the floor after that 1st pretty 3, I'd be clamoring for more time too.
but 1-3 from 3 (including an open airball) and 1-2 from the line didn't show me enough to demand more or less time.
no idea how far behind AP and Tanner he is. that's what practices are for. right now I assume from practices he's behind them.
I'm not giving up on AP or Tanner for this entire year based on one D3 game. same with Johnston or Lopez. but after last year, the leash is short for everybody.
Dude, I jest. I’m actually pro-Beagle, I like that he’s looking to score.he played great. one of the brightest spots on the team that night. can we not pick on him like he's an opponent?
At this early stage I see no reason to remove David Thomas from the rotation. He appears to be solid and lets the game come to him like Johnston. If a recall he made a good play to score our first bucket last night. After 2 full games of the season if we had to cut back to an 8-9 man rotation this is who I’d like to see the most.
Starters/most minutes:
Argabright
Johnston
JRob
Daughtry
Beagle
Bench:
Tyne
Lopez
Walz
AP

But looks like we can and will play 11-12 man rotations. We’ll see if that does become a strength of ours as Daughtry said in the post game interview last night.
Agreed. Other players like Thomas and Tanner are not worth removing from rotation either. I’m saying that Mooney likes trimming down his rotation come conference play based on history. If that were to be the case, the above 9 players is who I’d like to see.At this early stage I see no reason to remove David Thomas from the rotation.
