Keep applauding Huesman, your hero.
I certainly understand why he would choose to get his kicker some experience there that may help us win a conference game down the road. My dad was my hero.Keep applauding Huesman, your hero.
Interesting statement. So your understanding of the game is at the little league level or something? I won't waste anymore time. See you Saturday.I might understand that if they were in little league or something
Interesting choice since Huesman threw the kickers under the bus before the season even started. Maybe he realized that FGs may be the only points scored on offense so best to give the kicker in game experience. We are giving our kicker game opportunity given he's coming off of injury with limited kicking experience. Huesman playing the long game and I applaud it.
Ok 9 seconds third down, enough time for one throw into the end zone. Wait till 4th down to kick fg. But hey the distance was not much more than an extra point. Stocker and Glassmyer were in two deep. When in game wereI have no issue with giving the kicker practice/confidence in that scenario (which is what Coach H said in the post-game comments).
Also, for those of you complaining about him in general, unlike "other" coaches he at least takes the blame when something goes wrong. I believe it was at halftime today when he said something along the lines of "the team did good, but I have to do better."
I have also heard him say, on numerous occasions, "that's on me." So while I am hardly his biggest fan and question a lot of his decision-making, he does take ownership.
They were injured last week. Hope to be back next week. Since we don't score touchdowns that allow for practicing PATs, Huesman killed 2 birds with 1 stone.Ok 9 seconds third down, enough time for one throw into the end zone. Are you not seeing the same tendencies as the rest of us?You must be new to the game.
What are you talking about? I responded to why we kicked a field goal with 9 seconds left instead of throwing it a couple of times into the end zone. But since you asked, sure I'm watching the same game as you and watching closely. Until the O-line grows up and is more consistent with run blocking and pass protection, what you see is what you get. I'm sure you've noticed we're not good at throwing or running. Our offense includes running the qb and if he was running for 100 yards a game and scoring two touchdowns nobody would complain but he's not so it's easy to blame. Expecting to cure our issues at UNC was a pipe dream, even a mediocre power 4 team should easily beat an FCS team. Celebrate the defensive effort. We held a power 4 team to 312 total yards which included two 50 yd runs, through the A, B gap BTW. If blocked properly it's a beautiful thing. It may not look like it from the score but we made progress and we were down 4 starters. Are you not seeing the same tendencies as the rest of us?
How is the lack of passing game not Huesman's fault?
We had 15 pass plays and 48 running plays.
We kept running the same plays at the A and B gaps, to little effect.
Wickersham made an incredible throw to Dawson, but that was it. Why cant we see similar production?
Huesman even kept running the Snelshire, even when Wickersham left the game.
What were the positives? Maybe I missed something sitting up top in Chapel Hill today, all I took away is that we didn’t look like a very good football team.Posters know our team, the good, the bad, the ugly. Realistically, a W was not expected. What we saw was a young team finding its legs against a Power 4 opponent at home. Lots to clean up, but found more positives than negatives with respect to the long term.
So you don’t think scoring a touchdown in that scenario would not have created some excitementThey were injured last week. Hope to be back next week. Since we don't score touchdowns that allow for practicing PATs, Huesman killed 2 birds with 1 stone.
Huesman always takes the ultra conservative approach. He prefers to make FGs, rather than try for a touchdown. That's what happened all of last year, including the playoff loss to Lehigh. So you don’t think scoring a touchdown in that scenario would not have created some excitement
and momentum going into next week vs kicking a fg on 3rd down. My goodness Huesman took plenty
of chances in the game with fake punt inside our thirty and onside kick. He rolled the dice but at the end
he just folded.
I also question Huesman's decision to kick the FG with just over a minute left in the first half trailing 20-0.So you don’t think scoring a touchdown in that scenario would not have created some excitement
