2025 Richmond Spiders Football - Opponents Countdown - William and Mary

playing at Cary Field the Saturday before Thanksgiving is a great reward for Spiders fans everywhere, especially those who can make the trip to The Reservation for the historic game!

while this year's clash will not carry conference Championship implications for Richmond, it could still carry FCS Playoff implications, if we are still battling for a 4th straight Playoff appearance...and who knows, the Indians, while rebuilding their offense under Coach October could still be playing for an FCS spot themselves!

the Tribe was pegged to finish 5th in the CAA preseason poll, but as mentioned they have some rebuilding to do, particularly on the offensive side of the ball...at least five stalwarts from what has seemed like the last decade to this fan are gone...QB Wilson, RBs Yoder and Imoh, WR Mathis and OL Grant...it'll take a lot of work to replace that talent...

but you know what, regardless of how the Indians and the Spiders are faring, Spiders fans know former UR FCS National Championship Coach Mike London will be wanting to make a statement about the Tribe's pending 2026 entry into Patriot League play...I expect the Spiders will be aiming to give then a proper welcome...it should be another great football game...

thankfully the Preseason Opponents Countdown is over!...it's time for some real football...I learned a lot about our Patriot League opponents and hope fans did too... I am cautiously optimistic the Spiders will be in the midst of a terrific season long battle...

enjoy the Countdown and get your mojo ready for Lehigh...

Go Spiders!

So far, we are ahead in the series 66-64-5. The Spiders have averaged 21.75 points over the last 4 games. The Indians play New Hampshire this Saturday. The Tribe has our Offensive Coordinator. Their offense will be well coached.

Spiders have played plenty of teams with good offensive scoring numbers. The Tribe is also giving up 23 points a game over the last four. Beat NC A&T 38-34 two weeks ago.

Should be yet another close game for the Spiders and will likely come down to the turnover battle.

If they win the next 5, they will be 9-3. If they beat New Hampshire tomorrow, they have 3 cupcakes and then us. They have a shot,

Saw this on the NCAA website:

Has some interesting elements including W&M in the playoff. The other is Lehigh potentially playing Villanova in a second round matchup.
Interesting indeed, but just one man's opinion. Win out the Tribe is 8-4. Highly doubtful that gets them in the field and the trump card is they will suffer at least one more defeat...on November 22.
