We have a full back as a QB and as an Offensive Coordinator.

Jabba suppose to be a football guy. He cannot be pleased. We had 11 go to Portal last year which tells me a lot. How many go this year.

Jacob did not want to play #16 today.He wanted to start the frosh.He was overruled by Russ.We got what we got.
Last summer when there was open competition between #16 and Coleman
it was a phony straw man.Coleman got jacked around by Russ.It was predetermined that #16 would start.
After the Wofford fiasco #16 was injured.
Subsequently as Coleman went 8-0 in the regular 2024 season he went to Russ and wanted to be named the starter going into 2025.Russ said “no”.There would be open competition again.
Guess what.Coleman hit the road.He wasn’t gonna be jacked around again.He did not go to JMU because of any NIL.The young QB wanted to get out of Dodge.
He’s redshirting this season and will be the starter next season.
Russ is a defensive coordinator imitating a Head Coach.

Question for you 32counter. I thought Barnett the JMU starting QB is a redshirt junior. So how does this play out for JMU and Cam next year?

If you can’t score a TD on 1st and goal from the 4 yd line, you don’t deserve to win.
#16 shouldn’t be a starting QB. Maybe Russ can learn from these other Patriot league teams that are using different QBs depending on situation.
In every Patriot League game I have watched, Huesman has been out-coached and the Spiders have shown no ability to do much of anything with time expiring before the half nor the end of game. Time management isn’t even a concept.
Patriot League sure is a bigger test for Huesman.

Let’s see. I wasn’t paying strict attention but maybe QB run, QB run, fake handoff to RB and fumble.
Was that an option that failed or did Wickersham overplay his hand?
What was the play that Hill lost 12 yards? It cost us the game.

Rich tried a double pass and we had it covered and the Spider player retreated and we recovered the fumble. We score on next play with 47 yd run by JC ( Spider defense seemingly just not ready for that snap)

Too much to criticize but with 16 at QB our best chance today was to establish the run with our RBs. We actually started doing that in the 3rd quarter with a nice drive that ended in a fg and a 13-14 score. We got the ball right back and try a trick play that ends with the WR getting crushed and fumbling. Then we give up a 43 yard TD run (the opposite of complementary football) and are chasing the game from there and 16 doesn’t have the processing or execution speed to chase a game down two scores. We actually had some success when we ran the ball north/south but we kept trying horizontal throws/runs that took forever to execute and usually lost yardage and put us in 3rd and longs which 16 really struggled with outside of a few scramble runs. As for the defense there is no fancy analysis needed…they got pushed around starting on Holy Cross’s first drive.
