Mooney--an under appreciated coach.

I don't think this is accurate. Our staff works hard. I agree results matter--we can debate what is realistic results, but I promise you CM and the staff care.

Exactly, imagine the average fan thinking they CARE more about winning than the head coach! If my math is right Coach Mooney has spent close to 40% of his life building up our program yet some would claim he doesn't care.

Imagine holding him accountable for his record. 3 for 21 NCAA, 1 for 21 A10 regular season titles, 2 for 21 A10 tournament titles, 9-29 (soon to be 30) vs VCU. Embarrassing losses to VMI, Radford, Longwood, Oral Roberts, Charleston Southern, Elon, Delaware, W&M, finishing in the bottom of the A10 3 out of last 4 years. Ridiculous that any A10 school would stand for this. And the fact that there are posters on this board that are still trying to defend this miserable job performance is equally ridiculous.

Was crafting a message up but you took the words out of my mouth. So what he cares, I care about my job but that doesn’t prevent me from being let go. why is it different for a man who makes over $1 mil is beyond me

I am changing my tune a bit and acknowledge its been dissapointing. i think i posted that in one of my posts.

I stand by my 13-5 but acknowledge it was jaded by our poor non conference.

I just object to the fact that the staff doesn't care or that Mooney is checked out and sipping cocktails at the Country Club of VA. We'll see what tomorrow brings.
If you mean poor non conference scheduling, then I agree. If you mean 10-3 OOC wins vs losses, I disagree on the numbers. On the surface 10-3 is a good win vs loss number in spite of the crappy schedule. Regardless of 3 losses & thinking we should / could have run the table, the reality is you're going to lose a few to teams penciled in as wins.

I agree with you in that Mooney isn't checked out. The problem is that he's not a long term good coach, and we can & should do much better with a new beginning under a new coach.

“Build up” is an interesting choice of words. The program was doing reasonably well before him and I’m not sure you could claim he’s built anything real special. 55% and 3 in 21 isn’t my idea of being built up. That’s just me though.

Does building up mean being a 7.5 point underdog at home to a VCU team who is not even projected to be in the dance right now?
Agree.

On another note am curious of line seeing that we lost by 8 at VCU and getting 7.5 at home. I realize the game at VCU was more than 8 until end. Also they are on 8 game winning streak, and we just broke 6 game losing streak. Lots goes into algorithms of lines. Would luv to see the internals of 7.5. A lot depends upon if we show up at all like against GMU or revert back to prior games - several of which were really ugly.

I think complacency is more accurate than not caring. I mean, who wouldn't get complacent with a lifetime contract for $1.5 mil.
Hunger is a great motivator, therefore lack of hunger = lack of motivation.

Can someone check if the staff shows up on time this week? Need to focus on what’s important.
8am on the dot. Peter will review the three man weave drill and Gipe will review the drill where they run back and forth on the baseline doing reverse layups. Then brainstorming on how to avoid switching smallest guard on to other team's big.

Did we stop the play where after a basket we pass it out of bounds on the baseline. Don't believe have seen that masterpiece in a couple year. Probably too hard to implement since NIL. Only Walz can figure it out.
