Mooney--an under appreciated coach.

We just went wire to wire, did not allow the Patriots to lead for a single second, complete domination of a top 2 team in the conference.

I think a lot of you owe SpiderWill and especially Coach Mooney a little apology.
Do it for an entire season and then we can have a serious talk.

I am glad we won. I am happy for the team and they played well. However, we have a nearly 2 year sample size of the most recent body of work. 9-22 against A-10 teams. 10 OOC losses to teams we should beat nearly every year. A nice win over Mason ( like 17 said, a team we should beat at home) doesn't change anything the past 2 years. But, again, happy for the team and I hope they can get hot.
True. I was glad to see us get a win last night. Last night was one of those games when almost everything positive fell into place. One would think this would happen once or twice a season. Hopefully the team can find magic in a bottle again on Saturday vs VCU. I don't believe many on this site would think we've turned some sort of corner, gotten 6 straight losses out of the way, and that Saturday is the beginning of a strong run to closeout the season. I'd like to be proven wrong but have seen too much to think we've found the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

I respect you more spiderwill. Although we don’t agree on our program, at least you were on here sooner (after one our quad 4 losses) This dude just hops in after our best win of the season and tries to flex
I would say second best. Belmont was Q1, last night was Q3 over a team favored by 3.

It felt good, and they have won their A10 games, but have 3 or 4 tough ones ahead.

with a win Saturday, we can start drawing up papers for an extension.

17 - Pretty sure this falls under trolling - I am getting a good chuckle when I see these now. BUT to your other point, the sad sad reality is that it does seem Hardt/admin/PQ do latch on to singular events as confirmation that Mooney is doing well. Instead of looking at the body of work.
I think the magic number the admin is hoping Mooney reaches with wins this year is 18 +/- 1. That way it’s easier to claim we are “heading in the right direction”. Then add in the whole NIL narrative they’ve started introducing, the hope will be to convince donors to give more to continue this “progress”.

You are catching on very well 17. Wish it wasn't this way, this just seems like it will go on and on.

If that “heading in the right direction” is true, it’s all smoke and mirrors. Anyone with knowledge of the $hitshow of inflated OOC wins should quickly dismiss this. If PQ and Hardt hang onto those wins, they should be ashamed of such an argument.

And then someone with sense will hopefully remind the paper drawers that a win Saturday would be our 2nd win in the last 8 games and put us at 5-8 in the A-10.

This is not one of VCU's better teams. Kind of ridiculous that we are going into the game thinking it would be a major upset and amazing if we win Saturday. But, I guess that is where our program is right now.
Agreed, herein is the problem with letting any team, particularly your rival, own you. It becomes a fait accompli that you’re going to lose, regardless of the circumstances.

I fear that fear of VCU culture has permeated the locker room and CM himself goes into these games feeling like we are a massive underdog every time. Being confident and assertive is tough sledding when no one thinks you’ve got a decent chance to win.

At the time that we defeated them they were number 2 in the conference but sure let's discount that because they have "tough ones ahead" as long as it fits the agenda.

K State is 1-10 in conference. a good portion of that has to fall on the man in charge.
Then it seems like Tang is speaking passionately like he knows his job is on the line, while Mooney’s responses are knowing that he has no pressure to perform well.

ok, but sure sounds like he's blaming the players more than looking in the mirror. he put this team together. he's coaching them. it's on him.

as for the URI coach begging for attendance, good for her. she should do that. but you can't tell people what they should be interested in. well you can I guess, but they don't have to listen.

I follow men's basketball. and I probably spend way too much time on it. I personally don't watch women's basketball. I also don't go to lacrosse, tennis, golf, soccer, field hockey, track & field, etc ...

everyone makes choices.

I agree that it was over the top. I have never been a fan of throwing your players under the bus like Tang seems to be doing there. However, you can tell that he cares, he’s pissed by the results, and expects his team to play at a higher standard telling fans he’s going to rectify this as best as he can.

I think a lot of us Spider fans would like to see some sort of self-reflection and accountability from our coaching staff right now. Like I’ve said before Losing + Lack of Energy = Perception of Complacency.
