Game Thread - vs. Nebraska in NCAA play-in game - Wed 3/18 ESPN2 in Durham at Cameron

I’ve never seen someone miss as many layups as Newell has. Great player but my goodness has to make the easy buckets

This team looks like it just ran out of steam at the end of the season. Proud of what we’ve accomplished but disappointing end with the expectations we had.

So we have a group that can defend but they are offensively challenged and some of the starters struggle to defend and if they aren't shooting it well, we have problems.

Right now we look like panic is setting in a little.

Definitely does not look like a team that is peaking at the right time. Thought they would play a bit looser, but looks like they are wound as tight as a drum.

I know Rousell has done a lot for our program but WOW, as far as his adjustments go
Appreciate his loyalty but that first 5 got down 10 in first and the others got them back in and he needed to ready to make changes quicker in 2nd. Also surprised we didn't see any of that 1-2-2 that made them uncomfortable at the end of the first half.

Here comes the 1-2-2.

I hate to be pessimistic now but do you think Roussell is going to see that next year is more of a rebuild than we thought and will think this is his best time to move on to a P4 team? Obviously hope he stays and continues to build his legacy here.

Someone please convince me that this thought is wrong and that Roussell is going to continue staying here and build this program!

We didn't do anything well in that qtr. When we don't shoot it well, our whole game sorta goes down the tubes with it. Defensively we were horrible.

I don't think anything that happened tonight is gonna make a difference. He knew the rebuild was coming. I think he will leave but figure he was leaving before tonight. If anything this may hurt his chances on a few jobs.

Heard him in interview the other night say Ally Racheal and Maggie could have moved on but the four of them came back to make this happen.
I wondered right then if he might have also had the chance when I heard it.

Fingers crossed they pay him and he stays

Yep, I’ve come to terms with that. Team will likely take a big step back next year with Doogan and Ullstrom gone. Roussell historically has stayed at a program for about 7 years. We’ve made 3 NCAAs in a row and Roussell’s profile has never been higher. Not to mention attractive job options like Northwestern, Penn State, Pitt, BC opening up.

I just hope that he loves it here. He sees the potential of what this program can be and Hardt/Hallock sit down with him this off season and give him and his assistants the salary increase and NIL resources necessary to continue to elevate this program. Probably wishful thinking though.
