VCU does it again… good for them.

I'm sorry, but lacrosse? Ten years ago we didn't even have a lacrosse team. Most people have never seen a game, ever watched a game, and even fewer know the rules or how to play the game. They play outdoors in February and March for crying out loud. And we're discussing dropping football and lowering our basketball standards even further? Are we really discussing this?

What if Quelly had a daughter on the women's tennis team, we going to drop everything for that?

This whole Quelly Hardt Mooney thing is just MADDENING. There are lots of rich people around, what the eff makes quelly so special anyway.
Regardless of whether it was PQ's pet project or not, it's tough to argue with a winner. Chemotti is incredible, and the team is a ton of fun to watch. I knew almost nothing about lacrosse when we started it, but I really enjoy watching them play now. And they have a legit chance to win it all this year.

I understand and share your frustration with men's basketball. But, Rick you need to get out and see a lacrosse game. It's a great sport. Not only do they play outside in February and March but they're wearing shorts. More toughness in those boys little finger than Mooney and his entire program. Go Richmond lacrosse.

I have to disagree/ These coaches wouldn't want to work for your AD. They worked for VCU because they came in knowing it was a path to bigger and better things. Our Admin knows and accepts VCU is a steppingstone for successful people. UR isn't a path for career advancement; seems your admin wants long term coaches like back in the old days.
Whoa - Moon is a successful person. He’s probably pocketed 15 to 30 million sitting in an investment account off of long term coaching at UR. As far as judging his basketball success, that I’d agree with you.

The local media is spinning the story as VCU's biggest upset ever and something that no one saw coming. I know every Spider fan in Richmond, and probably on the entire east coast, knew exactly what was about to happen.

VCU got screwed, as did several other teams playing P5 schools. VCU went 2-6 from the line, while Illinois went 11-17. Illinois had almost 3x the number of free throws as VCU. They had no free throws in the first half. High Point is in the same boat. They had 3 foul spots in the first half compared to 12 for Arkansas. The refs are calling more fouls on the little guys than they are on the P5 schools.

Hard to draw fouls if you are just hoisting up 3's and have no inside game. Illinois took VCU to the woodshed.

It doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me to have higher academic standards than the rest of the programs in your conference. Regardless, I don't feel player talent is a major concern for ya'all. It's more about what you do with that talent.
Lol..I didn't say it made sense
