Greetings to everyone in Spider Nation. I'm a UConn fan of over 30 years. In that time, I've seen a lot of guys transfer out, but I was the most disappointed when Roumoglou left. He showed flashes at UConn, but only got garbage minutes.
I've been watching as many Richmond games as I can this season and last, hoping to see him have a breakout year. I know his 3 point shooting hasn't been very good at Richmond, but the potential is there; he virtually never missed in shootarounds while at UConn. Obviously that doesn't mean a ton, since there was nobody defending and no real pressure.
Still, I think his shot has potential to come around. When he was with us, his shot was particularly effective when he took it from the top of the key, in motion.
I'd like to see him drive the lane more. He's a good finisher at the rim. He doesn't draw many fouls - his FT attempted rate is astoundingly low. He has a good handle though and I think more aggressive cutting and driving is something he is capable of.
At 6'8" and with good ball handling, rebounding, and shot blocking abilities, you can plug him in at almost any position, depending on the team you're going up against. His defense has come a long way, but he still bites on the pump fake a little too easily.
Overall, I think you guys landed a great transfer with him and I really hope he turns the corner soon. I (mostly) like the way Mooney is using his bench this season and you guys are off to a pretty solid start. I don't have Flo so I couldn't see last night's game, but it looks like AP had his best showing of the season so far, judging by the box score.
Good luck this year!
