Well yes, recruiting is the problem, it has always been the problem and it has gotten worse over the past 5 years. But Mooney also uses the redshirt to hide his recruiting problems. Recruit a guy throw a redshirt on him and you have 2 years before someone notices that the recruit is a miss.

Good point on the history lesson and hindsight is always 20/20.

However, I think things have changed and Mooney isn’t going to be able to get by with the old tricks. First thing is that players are getting paid. I have no idea what they are getting paid at UR, but I think that changes the equation at least a little. Second, I think Mooney used redshirts last year because he wanted to buy some time to get more pieces together. He didn’t land any point guard talent to go along with those 2 players. He looks like he got another piece with Aiden this year. I think he is trying to build the “future contender” again. He just didn’t have the base to build on. The key question is did he miss with McG? He hasn’t been on the court enough for me. But there can’t be much doubt that something isn’t going to plan since he was only in the bonus period in the exhibition. We will see.

Mooney didn't quantify when he thought that shift was going to occur. It is not occurring right now that is for sure, it just getting worse every year with roster turnover and schools outbidding one another for players.

Harper and him have very similar builds and both will play probably the same position.

I saw nothing in mcglothins game against SoVA (TM) that led me to believe he was worse than some of the other guys CM is putting out on the floor.

Against ECU, we got 54 minutes out of Colin, AJ and AP for a total of 13pts. I’d take 5-10 mins out of that group and let mcg run a little. At least for a few games now when it means absolutely nothing against this ooc schedule and to where we end up this season.

Agree completely tbone. And if he can play any defense that would be an improvement on a couple of those guys.
