Maybe all 7 students could leave together? But I'm sure they'd just get new students...
It would be very on brand for Mooney. Just when you think he’s out…he pulls you (kicking and screaming) back in. Well, at least he pulls the Administration and PQ back in.I hate to ruin the pity party here, but I think the Spiders win Tuesday.
Could be the kiss of death, but GMU isn't all that.
So, what were they saying?I texted my brother who was at the UVA game yesterday. He randomly texted me back to say he was talking with some people at that games and subject came up about Mooney just keeps hanging around at Richmond.
There's a reason the media mentions it. Have we won every game, no.....is the winning percentage overwhelming high, no.I'm sure they have no opinion of him. He pops onto the radar once every 5-7 years for a couple days. 3 in 20 so far.
However, the interesting thing is that the media hype over coaches who have been at one place for a long time is so ingrained that it never goes past surface level to examine results. It's pretty lazy, but I wonder if people outside the UR sphere of knowledge have any idea how mediocre and ridiculous this 20+ years has been? Or if it's just assumed that the results are always very good or at least well above average to have lasted so long at one place during broadcasts. And those coaches are glorified when they get TV time. Granted, most of those guys have been very successful at a high level, or are coaching at a lower level where the expectations are not as high, so are deserving of praise.
I guess that's where we land these days.
I think the old board had posts showing that of the guys at same school for 20 years, Moon was the worst winning % by a large measure (once excluding the guys who came up with a program from lower divisions.)

Is there a certain aura and level of respect that people (media, coaches) have for the standard of Richmond basketball (hard play, graduation, fair play).........yes. Especially when coach could have left multiple times.
I thought he was courted by BC after 2016/17 year. I think i have right year when we lost to VCU in A-10 semis and went onto beat Alabama and Oakland in NITOk I’ll bite.
Ok I’ll bite. When after 2011?
Surprisingly, the only team that has courted him since March of 2012 was Southern Virginia…I thought he was courted by BC after 2016/17 year. I think i have right year when we lost to VCU in A-10 semis and went onto beat Alabama and Oakland in NIT
Absolutely would be super hard to ignore but it’ll be hard to coordinate our 3300 fans to get up at once and leave, unless we triple those free wing gift cards.Actually a very intriguing idea and one that would get a lot of attention nationally too if done correctly. You'd have to have someone hold up a sign or something just prior so that it would be obvious. But it would be a powerful visual message.
The media mentions it because we give them talking points before the games. You’ll notice that there are no talking points about a career 55% winning pctg or 3 ncaas in 20 years in spite of those being easily findable. There's a reason the media mentions it. What the media doesn't mention is he's lost more games than any other UR coach, he is around 25 pct vs VCU crosstown, he's approx 55 winning pct, and 3 NCAA's in 21 years (this year factored in). Those are not things that would be said on TV but are the cold hard facts that don't scream success. Feel goods don't amount to much. You mentioned other schools interest in him. How many mid majors and above do you think have been interested in the last 10 years? I'd be curious if anyone his a factual list. I'd have to think his attractiveness in the market currently is not much. Maybe you know otherwise? There's a reason the media mentions it. No one is coming to hire CM. Could’ve happened in 2022 but no mention of it.What the media doesn't mention is he's lost more games than any other UR coach, he is around 25 pct vs VCU crosstown, he's approx 55 winning pct, and 3 NCAA's in 21 years (this year factored in). Edit - looks like Tbone hit some of my same points. Sorry, I was typing during his post, but we all know CM's track record.
We could call it the WaWa WalkAbsolutely would be super hard to ignore.but you it w pi I’ll be hard to coordinate our 3300 fans to get up at once and leave, unless we triple those free wing gift cards.
Yeah - I thought the same. I was kind of wondering what SpiderWill has to say about that since he raised the issue. No one is coming to hire CM. Could’ve happened in 2022 but no mention of it.
Longevity is commendable and a feel good story for those outside the program. Not so much for those having to live through it.
Good branding. Wawa n Wings Walkout. We could call it the WaWa Walk
There’s not much to say, it’s objectively true I think. Idk anyone knocking on his door but it could’ve been quiet or just rejected.Yeah - I thought the same. I was kind of wondering what SpiderWill has to say about that since he raise the issue.
