well here we go again. 9-29 incoming?
Here is what is working against us...
- unlikely to play as well as we did vs. the Goo Moos
- we never beat VCU when they have a chance at At large. They r still alive for sure imo if they continue their recent run. Once in A10 tourney 2022 we killed their season ncaa chances, that's really it.
- the home court advantage we've seemingly had for years vs. VCU looks lost with our attendance issues and the reports on tickets remaining. More vcu fans then normal possibly invading the RC.
- and we are often unprepared, ill motivated, and scared vs. VCU and they are the complete opposite...which all leads to #1 reason...Mooney is teh WORST RIVALRY Coach of ALL TIME
That said I'm picking the Spiders! I mean can u really go 9-29. At some point just some personal pride from the embarassment of regular beatdowns kicks in. Eventually u got to stand up to the bully taking your lunch money. We're probably due. We've lost 3 in a row & 6 out of 7, and we weren't really in any of the 6 losses. Best result is by 8 and 12 points where we made it closer than it appreared at end.
I would have rather saved our Goo Moo game for this one, but I'm banking on the Spids taking that momentum into the crosstown rivalry game. I just hope we handle the game prep differently vs VCU because what we do clearly doesn't work.
Go Spiders! Own the 9-28, it sucks, don't take solace in Moon's pats on the backs for "effort". The 9-29 lies with Mooney, but it's time to win.
