Around the A10

I find it sad that we are taking pleasure in finding a schedule worse than ours. How low we have fallen.
Don’t be mistaken. No one is enjoying seeing or discussing the Men’s schedule. Am I making fun of it? Of course. What we are seeing is a conscious choice to NOT compete even though the “powers that be” say that competing is one of the most important aspects of the sports programs. We are pointing out that we are paying attention and know UR can do much better.

I will be supporting the Women’s basketball program by buying season tickets because it deserves my support. I will go to some Men’s games because I like the Men’s game more, but I can’t fully support a program that isn’t living up to its end of the deal.

The saddest thing is Monday is the last day for season ticket renewals and I haven’t received a single phone call asking me to renew. I guess it could be because I am not an alum and am just a local person who has attended essentially every home game with his wife for the last 8-10 years after attending half the home games with the whole family for 3-4 years before that time. Or could it be that the ticket office knows that the product they are selling is not attractive and thus shouldn’t invest the time? I don’t know but there will be 2 less seats filled at Robins most games. This doesn’t sound like much, but I can tell you that the “premium” row I was in was already 50% empty for nearly the entire season last year. So if fans being in the building are important, someone is missing the mark.

Went ahead and purchased mine this morning - was also a touch surprised that no one had called as I recall they have done in past years to remind me.

Native, the AD office/ticket office handling of yours and Sec9's renewal is item number 236 on the list of items that describe how we now seem to operate more like a D3 program than a D1 or D1 mid major power.

I think a few folks on this board had received those calls in the past and expressed displeasure with the schedule and product, so they probably crawled in a hole and stopped them.

I had the same thought about season ticket renewal. Did not renew mine, but the only reminders I received were the mass emails: no personal phone call, email, or text. I plan on still attending some games, but not all (as I have done in the past).

I wasn’t particularly happy after last year, of course with the product on the court, but also my seats in general. I chose one of the cheaper sections, and then was only presented 2 options for season tickets, both in the upper half of the stadium. When I would attend games, there were rows and rows of empty seats closer to the court. Still wonder why I wasn’t offered any of those seats. Halftime entertainment was awful all year too, as my wife pointed out.

student athletes typically call donors to thank them for giving during fundraising drives.
we should have the basketball team calling season ticket holders to thank them for their prior support and to ask if we'll see them again this year. who'd say no to a call from Big Mike Walz? maybe starting tomorrow to whoever didn't renew, extending the deadline.
1 minute calls. I don't think it's not too much to ask as a way to "earn" their NIL checks.

If anyone from the AD or ticket office reads this board, I wouldn’t be surprised if your suggestion gets implemented. Seems like a “perfect fit” as a condition to get the money the athletes earn and why wouldn’t the players want to have as many season ticket holders as possible.

It would seem like a no brainer to have our players call season ticket holders. Ergo there is no way we would ever do.

Not the A10 but more and more mid and even low majors dipping into the top 150 for players with the the power conferences focusing on portal. He had a Richmond offer.

I got a call today to renew, couldn't answer bc I was in a mtg ...I won't be calling back nor will I renew online....after nearly 30 yrs as a season Tix holder, I'm hanging it up and will watch on ESPN+

Or Mountain West.

A10- and Mountain West aren't mid majors?
I know top teams in MW are re-forming as the Pac10/12. I know SDSU and Utah State and Boise would be on this list - so they must not. Not sure how you could leave A10 off unless they just don't have teams that they think are good? Not sure the criteria.

the A-10, American, WCC, and MWC should be mid-majors.
the problem is they don't have a low-major grouping. they should and it would be the bottom 15 or so.
seems obvious if you have high majors and mid majors ... there should be low majors.
