Argabright coming back (confirmed)

I heard that the end of the roster may not get paid either and this was a bit of a surprise as many of us thought that one of the pros of redshirting may be an extra year of cash in the pocket. I didn’t expect significant money of course, but thought they would get a small stipend which was mentioned when NIL first came into being. Suppose it is a sign that the budget is limited and that the redshirts are the long shots, which was another popular opinion.
I was very surprised to hear this. so who in general is the end of the roster? is it all incoming freshmen? I assumed just getting recruited to the A10 included NIL. do some freshmen get it and others not? once you've been here a year do you get it, or only if you played as a freshman.

No rose colored glasses for me. I heard the same circular answers and no plan. The news is UR is paying AA significant money and the NIL budget is going up. Of course all teams NIL budgets are going up according to Evan Miya. Same coach, same staff and likely the same scheduling “issues” next year.

JOC did ask some direct questions, but many were asked multiple times and he knew he wasn’t going to get an answer. I guess recycling came quick today.

Excitement = 0
My excitement is less than that, to be honest. Other than bringing AA back, what has Mooney done to say he deserves to be brought back another year? Other than a contract (which can be bought out), what does he say about that?

No one there yesterday had the wherewithal to ask Mooney:
• Did you think there was a chance you would be let go after two bad seasons?
• Why do you think you deserve to be back next year?
• You've won 22 Division I games in total in the past two seasons – what happened? What's your plan for improving that?

"Its a very competitive world for international players, be we, just like everybody else, are interested in that"
I saw this quote in an article about a European recruit “Styles of play in college basketball mirror those of Europe far closer than those of high school basketball in the States, with an emphasis on passing and offensive flow rather than one-on-one skills showcases.” I don’t know about “college basketball” as a whole, but it sure sounds like European players fit exactly what Mooney likes to run. I guess it is just too hard to recruit overseas…..

If they asked those questions, they wouldn’t have been invited back for the next press conference.

If that were the case, and it's possible that it would be, they should write it and shout it from the rooftops. It would blow up so fast in the university's face.

You are correct - they wouldn't be invited back. However, the sad reality is that given the failures of the basketball program and no real explanations offered as to why the coach is retained, as well as 21 years of mostly mediocre results, EL's questions are more than legit. We deserve real answers. All our school does is tippy-toe around the cold hard facts and reality of the failures of the program. Several weeks ago I stated that the school has put CM over everything else. He's got one amazing job. Unbelievable. How low can the program go?

A couple interesting things from the AA interview.

1. AA said that not everyone was giving maximum effort last year. That was pretty profound.
Second year in a row that this comment has been made, Walz said the same thing about last year.

Again, there’s a coaching problem if his case, either with getting guys to be locked in or in bringing players in that you haven’t done the homework on.

Where's Coach Fezz when we need him?
