Well, we decided to throw a whole press conference with AA and Mooney about the return. Anything for some positive PR I guess, but some interesting info here.
JOC went straight for the throat asking AA how much he’s making. AA declined to answer. JOC also asked if he was offered by other programs and how much he was offered, but AA said he didn’t get into $$ with other schools.
I believe that was @UR Fan 2 who asked if AA knew who else was returning - Aiden said he “hoped” Harper, Tanner, Daughtry, and Robinson would be returning.
Mooney also declined to state how much AA is making and who will be staying/going. Sounds like there’s still some decisions to make. He did confirm that the NIL budget will be increasing from last year.

Listen, I’m as happy as the next guy about AA returning but we’ve now made a post conference video and a made a whole article
about this. I get its NIL era now but it seems strange to be celebrating this that much. It should be the expectation that our good players return. We didn’t do this with KA, KO, SDJ, Ced, or Gilly returning. I guess we’re desperate to find something positive to hang our hat on. Personally, I’ll be more excited if we can bring in some stud transfers and actually play good teams in non-conference.

Also, kudos to JOC for asking some direct questions this time specifics on AA’s NIL dea, asking Mooney who else is staying/leaving. Asking “what’s necessary for player’s budget to contend in the A10” “do you recommend entering the portal for any of your players?”

Interesting response from Mooney around the 10:30 min mark about how he used to think retention would be important but now realizes it’s “not the most accurate indicator for succeeding”. I will say that this was something I claimed day 1 of NIL era a few years back that with the money UR has, we can really capitalize by bringing in top guys for 1-2 years.
Looks like in-house GM is being look at and on the fore front in the future.
No staff changes this year, which is a real shame in my opinion. Shows no effort of is trying to think or do things differently.

Around 19 min mark was answering question about roster size and pay for play. A little confused here. Not sure if Mooney was meaning compensating the guys who play or not necessarily utilizing the full allotted roster for scholarship/NIL players.
Mooney vaguely answering how things will be different next year. “Looking at everything” talks about adjustment. Didn’t really give any concrete ways things will be different.
Mooney comments that he thinks Dane and Deuce can play A10 level basketball as freshmen.
Last question of the interview was along Mooney what the player will be this year and got a response saying he doesn’t know what it will be. Not sure if that’s him just avoiding the questions (my guess what it is) or if there’s some flexibility and roll to go up if they think a certain player will be really good and we need just a little bit more NIL.

CM talked about getting bigger, possibly playing 2 big guys together. I think we've talked about it here more than he's really considered it before. I mean, I guess Grace played some forward.
also talked about the "contracts" not being real contracts but being agreements to pay a player ... but there's no weight on it that locks a player to UR. "and that's just the nature of it".
also said we're very excited about the 3 incoming freshmen, and that 2 of them can definitely play Atlantic 10 level basketball as freshmen. I assumed he meant Simmons and Cook, but JOC pushed him on it and he said Simmons and Dane Caldwell. but he said "Cook is a good player too so who knows".
