Definitely need a 2nd guard with size, and then a guard or wing type would be fine with the last spot.Feeling much better about the roster than I was 15 minutes ago.
Want to see that stud shooting guard and another athletic wing added to the mix.

But, we have to sell them on...."come here and be prepared to play right away. We would love to have you for all 4 years, but we all know how the portal is. If you come here and do great, and that leads to P5 opportunities, that's great. We want what is best for you, but right now, what is best for you is coming here and helping us win the A-10 and get to the dance".EL agree completely. It's a gold mine for mid majors now, and one other programs have taken advantage of. But even the last couple years in which mooniocrity stated his strategy was to build via HS recruiting, we could not land the high rated/impact hs recruits. I'll give him AA , that's about it. But we should be able to bring in one or two top 150 types in this current climate.
I would ponder that no recruit is interested in hearing about redshirting (at least no recruit we would want). Another reason, why our rampant use of the redshirt works against us.But, we have to sell them on...."come here and be prepared to play right away. Top 150 recruits don't want to hear about redshirting and developing. They want and expect to play right away.
I really find this scenario both fascinating and horrifying. I don't really buy that the staff isn't pushing guys to redshirt.from what Mooney has said, we haven't pushed anyone to redshirt. but we've offered it. I agree ... we shouldn't any more.
kids have taken it (I would too) as a year getting paid NIL to just practice and lift. their best 4 years are ahead of them, and they can leave whenever they want. I'd love the 5 years to play 4 option, getting paid 5 times. come out from here or from a high major after a transfer with a masters degree.
We have 2 ESPN top 100 recruits as well. When's the last time we had two state POYs on our roster at the same time? That's wild.
I want guys who believe they should be starters.I really find this scenario both fascinating and horrifying. I don't really buy that the staff isn't pushing guys to redshirt.
There is clearly some conversation that happens where someone from the coaching staff is telling a kid that they aren't likely to get much playing time and a developmental redshirt is open to them. There's no way these guys are coming to that conclusion on their own; they are competitive players who have been starters for probably just about every team they've been on. Every one of them thinks they can play and succeed. So if they aren't being pushed, they are certainly being ushered to this conclusion.
We need guys fighting for spots every practice and every game. I get that there will be end of bench guys, but I still want those guys pushing whoever is above them each week to be next man up, wherever they are in that line.
