Looks like we are fishing in the same portal pond as Robert Morris, UMBC, Hoftrsa, and Jacksonville State. All is well, my friends.Bryce Dortch out of Rutgers, 6'9" sophomore with two seasons of eligibility left. Averaged 14 minutes this season and started 3 games, but only averaged 2 points and 3 rebounds per game. Has not attempted a three in his college career. Shoots 62% from the field, so obviously taking a lot of his shots close to the basket as the rim running mention suggests.
It’s all about fit.Looks like we are fishing in the same portal pond as Robert Morris, UMBC, Hoftrsa, and Jacksonville State. All is well, my friends.
Looks like I am 1 for 1 in my predictions. Let’s see if I can keep the momentum going. With Mojo coming back, I’ll reiterate here that Jamie Kaiser has to be our number 1 priority right now. Would be perfect at the 3, maybe 4 spot for us. Produced well offensively at Butler and was also good defensively. We can’t just think about offense this portal. Have to prioritize players who are good defensively too.
Personally I would not go after those kinds of recruits first. Look at GW3 and AP in recent years who came from Michigan and UConn, respectively. There was a reason why they weren’t playing. Now, those schools were literally the 2 best teams in the country this year so a guy on their bench can still be really good, but personally I want to see at least some production at the P4 level.the list isn't impressive, but he was a pretty big recruit out of HS.
this is the kind of target we've talked about. kid at a (bad) high major program who wasn't playing.
I like those stats more than Bryce from Rutgers.
Not sure what sort of interest he is getting in the portal but was a teammate of Kaiser's at IMG Academy.
Like his ability to attack, quick first step and body control. He scored 18 ppg and seems to have a great sense on how to get to the basket. 45% FG, 32.5% 3PT, 80% Free throw. Averages 4 rebounds and assists per game as well. Has good quickness. I like his game seen on the highlights below.
I think we focus too much on shooting percentage. We touted Roche a few years ago shooting 40% from 3 at the citadel but didn’t translate here and he didn’t have any other dimension to his game if those shots weren’t falling. We need all around good basketball players. Guys who can get hot and shoot the 3 some days, drive to the basket, or distribute to teammates. Guys who play defense. I think Kaiser is an overall complete basketball player and so is Kennedy.
