2026 Portal Prospects

lol, it kinda works both ways. maybe Bizjack didn't want to come here because we had enough guards.
your "positionless basketball" is thrown out the window every recruiting cycle.
What do u mean? Are you saying most teams start 2 Gs, 2 Fs, and a C or always have the same number of guards, wings, and bigs on their roster? My point with positionless basketball has always been you want versatile players that can play different spots on your team, especially scorers like Bizjack. If it means having an extra guard or wing on your roster instead of an extra big, you do that. Back then, we had 13 players on the roster, and you didn't feel he should be part of our 13 man roster because we were done recruiting guards. I disagreed and we brought him in for a visit because we wanted him, knew he could help us, and you don't turn guys like that down because "you are done recruiting guards". Especially when teams start and play 3 or 4 guards together.

If we wanna be good, Bizjack would be a guy we should be targeting. We already recruited him hard so assuming we have a relationship. He would fit nicely starting next to Aiden in the backcourt.

But of course, we already have Tyne and Harper occupying that position for us. Lol.

Sure, we should contact him and try to get him, but he is probably thinking power 4 money at a power 4 school.

I don't remember the specific details of that year. but in a given year on a balanced roster (especially with a 13 man roster), if you have 3 spots open you normally are replacing the 3 guys that left. if you lost a PG, a post and a wing, you likely replace those.

but yes there's absolutely positional versatility. most guys aren't slotted into just one spot. a guy like Tyler could certainly play the 4 and the 3 ... and probably even the 2 on some teams. but not the 1 or 5. some guys are strickly made for one position.

I don't remember if Bizjack could play the 1, but he could play the 2 and probably the 3 for us. I don't remember our roster at the time. but positions matter.

Correct. So people do no think I am delusional, Bijack averaging 17 ppg in the Big East is not someone that we can recruit or pay to come play in the A10. However, there are plenty of players who did average to slightly above average in P4 schools that with the recruiting pitch of extensive playing time, playing with AA, and a lot of money would definitely consider coming here. Same with guys who averaged 17 ppg at lower level mid-major conferences.

Interested to see where Dunlap goes. High energy player can shoot the three. SLU board mostly thinks he wants more minutes while some some are saying USC or UCLA as he is from west coast. Already tried high major level originally went to St John's and Pitino.

7'9" Olivier Rioux of Florida has entered the portal. maybe he wants to go somewhere with the green light from 3?
Was thinking about him and how he would do in the A-10. He is obviously very limited athletically being so tall, but man, why would you not just put him on the block and feed it to him all game long. Mooney of course would have him out at the 3 point line, back to the basket, trying to hit the back door cut all game long, so I would not advise us as a landing spot.
