Agree with your assessment. I've beenthanks for your observation...watching from afar it looks to me like the offensive line (rebuilt again since preseason) gelling in the next few games may be the key to perhaps getting the UR offense up to the competitive level in the Patriot League...
it seems pretty clear that despite getting into the "call sheet" a little deeper this week, that our offense is still basically a power running game between the tackles with an occasional pass in the 5-10 yard bucket, more than likely horizontal rather than vertical...by the end of the last two seasons our OL was good enough to make this very conservative offensive strategy work, but not with this year's rebuilt group...
our defense should be good enough to give us a chance in most Patriot League games, but we'll be facing offenses that are much better than Wofford's...ours needs to catch up and I'm not sure it can?
Go Spiders!
saying all along that it begins with the OL. Our success or lack thereof depends on their progress..
Wickersham finished 20-of-29 for 153 yards, one touchdown, one interception, and was not sacked as he was protected by a new-look offensive line. He also rushed for 78 yards and one touchdown on 17 carries.
Except for the INT, not bad. I'd like to see us go more vertical but that's a function of time to throw. Need to keep making progress.
