The first couple years in a new league are important, especially when you are making a move that initially was viewed as a step down (and with good reason). I think most of us now agree that moving forward, the Patriot could/should be stronger than the CAA, but this year was a huge blown opportunity for us. Coming off two playoff appearances from a multi-bid league and moving to a one-bid league, we had a chance to dominate and let future recruits know that we were the class of the league. Doing so also could have helped us continue to recruit at a level higher than what most Patriot teams do.
Instead, we fell on our face and ruined that chance. Now we are just another team in the Patriot League. Yes, we still have a lot going for us as a school and program, but we are now behind the top couple teams in this league from a recruiting standpoint, and I have no confidence that Huesman can change that perception.
