2025–26 Spider men's basketball schedule

I see they are playing UC Irvine. Seems like, other than the travel distance, that would be a mutually beneficial opponent for Richmond. I have seen in the past that Curtis Blair officiated a practice of ours, so obviously some type of relationship with moon. And Curtis was HS teammates with Irvine coach. But alas, I know it is asking way too much to use connections and think outside the box scheduling.

97 - You do realize that there are a bunch of us old farts who are still on this board and are very much alive. And not all of us wear red sweater vests.
Hooray for the old timers. I definitely wouldn’t have guessed there have been 55 games between the 2 opponents, but since the last game was 49 years ago I shouldn’t be surprised. Also, would have lost a bet on which team has won more games and it really isn’t particularly close.

I guess the Spiders just made it in under the half century expiration date for an official rivalry. 😂

Thinking outside the box is probably a good idea. Maybe Moonco should try doing a bit of it. Whatever they're doing right now for scheduling isn't paying big dividends.

I was with Curtis this morning & mentioned your post.

An absolute embarrassment for our historic flagship program! No respect for the program, it players and loyal fans.

Wasn’t it just a few years ago someone at UR said we had one of the best basketball programs in the country? If so, we’ve come backwards a long way!

Go Spiders!

Is Elon a new add to our schedule that we didn't know? Or was this just date confirmation. I thought we had 1-2 slots still open to hopefully grab a BCS opponent. But if I add up all of the games on the list above, I get 13, which means our OOC is full. So, I'm a bit confused.

date confirmation I believe .. so exciting

and could there possibly be 4 other schools among the 20+ D1 schools in the Carolinas that would be worse for us to play beyond Charleston Southern, The Citadel, Gardner–Webb, and Elon? wow.

SF had accounted for all the games a little while ago. The Elon one was only mentioned on Bob Black’s ESPN Richmond show, so it was the sole “unconfirmed”’game until the Elon schedule/news came out.

Apparently someone bet the staff they couldn’t create an OOC schedule worse than last year’s and the response was “challenge accepted”. /s

Can’t wait for the official release touting high number of home games.

Thanks. Wow. This is really unbelievable. We all thought last year was horrendous but apparently our staff was like "hold my beer". This will be probably Top 20 worst OOC schedules in D-1.

What a shame for our fan base and our players, who I'm sure like any competitive player wants the opportunity to play big time games. Everyone associated with putting this together should be embarrassed.

Curious if there is an easy way to compare our OOC strength of schedule to A10 teams. Have to think this is one of the worst in conference. So coming off our 1st ever A10 regular season co-championship no one wanted to play us because we are too good. Then coming off last years poor season no one wants to play us b/c too bad. Too many excuses - and tone being set by the top.

But guessing we will have a damn good SRS this season.

Not going to argue with you that this schedule absolutely stinks and has a chance to be one of the worst in the country, but didn’t we have a pretty mediocre (albeit better than this one) schedule last year and by metrics it turned out to be like the 4th best A10 OOC schedule? It was posted on the old rival boards if anyone happens to know the link to that tweet or article. This schedule won’t be great but with some luck, can turn out to be average. Still, won’t be enough to move the needle for an at-large in any way.

As far as I know the old Rivals content is dead, unless On3 decides to give it to those that have requested it.

I recall a couple of comments on A10 OOC schedules last year and the take home message was that only a few teams were putting themselves in consideration for an at-large. UR of course wasn’t one of those schools and my recollection was that the schedule ranked somewhere in the middle.

My memory was reinforced by this old article:

Hopefully, this person does another analysis on this year in late September this year. I expect UR to be at the end of the line.

I think playing Auburn which was a Top 5 team in the NET all year at Auburn made our schedule look good on paper and metrics. The rest of the schedule blew and of course Auburn blew our doors off.
