2025–26 Spider men's basketball schedule

Welcome aboard and I find myself wrestling with the same decision. Went to all the games last year and didn’t enjoy the OOC ones then either. Now they are giving me more of something I don’t want.

There were a good number of empty seats last year and it will be interesting to discover if there are even more this year. I can’t say “see” because I likely won’t be in the building.
I too am up in the air. Been a season ticket holder for 20+ years. Found myself missing games last year due mainly to the product and leadership but also the generally stale atmosphere at the RC. Empty seats were noticed early and often as well.

And now they want to charge me more for a season where we are not even attempting to draw up a competitive schedule. We are the complete opposite of the "Win with us or watch us win" mentality at VCU in every conceivable way. It is just really hard to get excited about this program any more.

… the generally stale atmosphere at the RC.
This is a whole different topic, but I agree wholeheartedly. The entire operation has seemingly been placed in “coast mode”. The only change has been rapidly increasing beer prices. This doesn’t really impact me because if I need a few beers in order to watch then I am surely staying at home. 😀
And now they want to charge me more for a season where we are not even attempting to draw up a competitive schedule.
I’m waiting for the press release citing tariffs as the reason for the increase.

I'm with you. I too haven't renewed by season tickets and am on the fence. My gut tells me that there are is no real number of us who don't renew that'll make a difference in anything with the men's bb program. I honestly don't think Hardt & everyone associated with the program could care less. I'd be curious of impact to the contrary.

The amount of revenue they get from ticket sales/season tickets is probably one of the smaller revenue sources for our MBB program. Further they are making up for any decrease in actual renewals by raising prices and they probably have a couple either bigger donors or companies that either buy tickets or buy marketing ads that will allow them to paper over any losses from folks not renewing their season tickets. So yeah, they don't care. No one is calling me to renew my tickets and they probably aren't calling you either.

The difference will be noticed on game day though. It was last year and I expect it to be worse this year.

That is the infuriating thing with Mooney and Hardt. They are able to control the narrative by only taking softball questions in the media and only doing media with vetted sources. I think our podcast duo is doing a tremendous job, getting ready to give the new episode a listen now. But right away moon is creating the narrative how his job is to create good young men. I thought that was the parents job??? I mean he is only recruiting the highest character guys we are told. So i don't think that job is too hard. It's not like when Shaka was at VCU and a lot of the players grew up without a father figure. AND he won big.
I don't think it's our podcasters job to call out moon. And they would get whiplash finding out how fast they lose access. But to me it was another clear example of where moon was using them to shape the narrative that he has this super hard job to mould these young men, and ohh there is only so much time left in the day to also win games and schedule opponents and figure out this NIL thing.
This co-sign this statement. Most of these kids have high character so he making it sound like he getting kids out of “Last Chance U”

I like watching hoops, and only live 2 miles away. It's a great venue, and compared to the prices for VCU tickets it's a steal and bargain all rolled into one.
Just got an e-mail from VCU, season tickets start as low as $475. So that is not that much higher than what we charge now. And obviously much better product and much better schedule they are playing.

GM seats behind the basket opposite of the student side. Students stopped going to the games, so they are selling the seats which were at once reserved for students. I'm not sure if they sold out the student section more than 2 or 3 times last year.

Thanks, I figured they were crappy seats but was notable because in previous years you had to make a donation before being eligible for season tickets.

Spiders social media amping this up as "A rivalry renewed". God, they are so pathetic. We haven't played Furman since 1976, so most fans who actually watched the last UR-Furman game are dead now. And do we really want to consider Furman a rivalry. I realize we are polishing turds at this point with this schedule.
97 - You do realize that there are a bunch of us old farts who are still on this board and are very much alive. And not all of us wear red sweater vests.

Took a peak at Furman board, looks like our "small" lineup could be put to the "tall" test right away. One predicted starting lineup up for Furman goes 6'4, 6'7, 6'7, 6'11, 6'11.

If there is any silver lining in this really bad schedule is that Furman should be the best of those 3 teams for us NET wise. Next would be to play Illinois State, ideally after beating Furman.
