This stat tells it all

Yes. And I do understand it is not a great look to throw individual players under the bus in the media. I am not advocating that. But this is D1 basketball at the high mid major level, where coaches are paid well and players are paid to play in addition to getting a free education. So yes I expect Mooney to coach defense, send a message when players dont, and generally run things more like a business than a day care.
I am never a fan of throwing your guys under the bus, but my goodness, we are hearing way too much praise and too much "proud of" talk right now.

watch the Sean Miller press conference about Texas being a fouling machine, and contrast it with how Moon talks about our own fouling machine. Night and day. One coach calls out his guys as a whole to get better, the other is proud of his team.
Sean Miller to be honest doesn't have the best reputation in the business. If you look at some of the talent he has, results haven't been all that great.

I agree on not throwing players under the bus. We are on an extended losing streak. Praise & proud talk is Mooney's fix. How much softer can he get? We have 2 tough games this week, and soft talk's not going to get it done. Actually, no matter what he says matters because he and his system are the biggest part of our failure. I have to believe a good coach with different game choices could achieve more with our existing players

I am so far past listening to CM talk about what we need to do better, I might as well be on Mars. There is never anything meaningful stated, no real energy, and nothing that inspires belief that things are going to improve.

MOTS - more of the same.

Exactly, I might try to find a soundbite a couple times a season when a poster on this board points out a particularly egregious statement. Otherwise I have stopped listening years ago, because there is no fire, nothing exciting, same tired coachspeak.

I mean its better than going on and bald face lying like Jon Scheyer I guess. But no, id rather moon do that too. I can only imagine the crowd and team at Duke when they avenge the multiple face punchers :)

Continuing a thought from above, I have never attended practice. But I've inferred from things I've read here over the years and told by others who have attended, that coach's demeanor at practice is rather different than it is with the media.

So I'm not entirely sure that not throwing players under the bus in public (which I support) is equivalent to "everyone getting a trophy" in private.
