Robins Center experience

fully agreed about the lack of entertaining halftime entertainment ...

Also still believe with the East Entrance closed this year (i.e. from the bridge area near old X lot) for I think both students and non-students, think for heavy attendance games, there will be a real backlog of folks waiting to get through the metal detectors.
This is going to be an issue on games with more than 3000 fans. Not sure why the East Entrance (which is also the student entrance) is now closed by the line to get in at the front entrance is unnecessarily long now.

Agree with what other have said. No ball blaster or t-shirt cannon, chick fil-a parachutes. These are really simple things that enhance fan experience and they are gone for some inexplicit reason.

Lastly, I am really glad someone mentioned the lighting. I thought it was just my section/seat, but there is a light that literally shines directly in my eyes during pregame and at other times. It is absurdly bright.

One would think that they would both sound and light test the arena by sitting in seats throughout the arena.

Agreed with everyone that they've really seemed to pair down the entertainment aspect of the games. I also noticed they got rid of the DJ that sat in the student section. Not saying the DJ was a huge factor in the gameday experience but it further shows the deemphasis on the fan experience. For a relatively inexpensive amount, they could get a few students campus jobs as athletics ambassadors who help with student attendance, game experience including halftime activities, music pregame and during timeouts and some good promotions.

Why is the East entrance closed?
Tried to ask and staff seemed not to know but I assume at least somewhat related to the new metal detectors that started last year and to have fewer overall entranced but really makes it a longer walk from normal places I park.

Is east entrance closed when no athletic event is happening?

To be fair, Oakland has played exactly two home games, one against NAIA Defiance and one against NET 288 IPFW.

The scheduling aggressively is generally taking place on the road, and it's given them the second-toughest OOC schedule in the country according to NET.

The 3v2 mascot game was certainly a choice.

I’m trying to give UR the benefit of the doubt and presume one team’s Uber got lost and they made the most out of what they had.

Candidly, the game isn’t markedly better at 5v5.

Bring back the Black Widow. I see her on tv every now and then (I think she was on "America's Got Talent" ). She's probably played every arena in the country by now.
Poor fan experience, poor promotions, bad sound, bad music, no parachuting teddy bears, no fun...Just strickly basketball now.

Agree on most but think the live band is good. Much better than the piped in & obnoxious music between every play at our football games.

It is an odd step back from where we've been promotion/gameday experience-wise the last few years. That "hype" video before our team comes out may be the most juice draining thing they could have possibly come up with, almost no students in the building, no t-shirt cannon, ball blaster. Maybe NIL payments are cutting into game day?

Con - kettle corn popcorn lady is gone
Pro - Falcon Smash now available

If we can't afford the t-shirt cannon and ball blaster anymore we are in deep trouble. Seriously, though the t-shirt cannon/ball blaster are easy tried and true ways to increase the fan experience. Kids love that. Heck, I'm a grown man and I'm gonna stand up and try to nab one of the balls from the ball blaster. It defies logic that they aren't using them anymore and further they have replaced them with absolutely nothing.

My current theory is that they are holding back until the A10 schedule starts. They realize the OOC games are low draws and don’t want to waste the marketing dollars on a half empty building. Sounds good right?

Last year they promoted Wawa 3 pointers with cards worth $ or freebies at Wawa. This year Wawa three is nothing but a catch word over the PA system. No giveaway on 3’s this year.
