Robins Center experience

Happy New Year to all Spider fans!
I can only assume the halftime show funds were diverted to the NIL funding. Now it appears the ball blaster and tee-shirt canon are the latest budget cuts. Hope it is because the students are on break but……….

Thanks. I was visualizing red/blue sweater vests, corduroys and big floppy pizza hats!
When was you last game at the Robin Center? It is 6 year olds dressing in old uniforms (jersey, shorts, shoes) of actual players, and then first to make a layup gets a prize.

The last VCU game UR won. Before that maybe when. I was a season ticket holder 2012 or 2013. Mooniocrity and inflexibility got to me.

Correct. Last year for season tickets was 2013-2014. TJ was in street clothes, redshirting, that’s how I remember. I knew who he was from the successes of ODU womens bb.
With the previous coaches I always had a feeling and expectation of winning games and enjoyed watching the strategical in game changes. With Mooniocrity, I got bored and frustrated. Life became much easier on my personal UR sports level as I had no expectations.
There could have been so much with the players that came through the inflexible, rigid “system”.

We attended our first game of the season yesterday and the experience was definitely not up to UR standards even if we had won. Here's some of our observations:

--The metal detectors are most likely sadly necessary in today's world but the system is neither intuitive nor explained. It's going to be a real cluster at a game that is even more heavily attended or sold out. The ticket scanners should not be standing in the metal detector lines and holding up traffic.
--The rope lines need to be removed by halftime if not before. They make an already crowded concourse even more chaotic.
--I had read here about the lack of the tshirt cannon and the lack of the ball blaster but hoped those were just early-season omissions. They were not present yesterday and during the t-shirt toss I don't think they "tossed" more than five shirts, all in the same general area.

--The most frustrating thing is the fact that we are now 9 home games into the season for the men and 6 home games into the season for the women. And yet they somehow have not managed to post the promotions for either team on the promotions page?

If you click on either, it just says "Check back soon for a complete list of promotions during the 2025-26 men's basketball season" (or the counterpart for the women). This is inexcusable!!!
Yet, another example of the Mickey Mouse operation that we run out of the RC. I don't know who is in charge of overseeing the MBB operational side of things but whomever it is has absolutely zero managerial abilities.
