I believe 2 or 3 timesThis was a very conservative offense again today, although Snelsire did not throw INTs. He threw well enough. It looks like he ran the ball too many times, 11 for 20 yards, with his longest being 14 yards. Was he sacked a lot?

2 sacks for 12 yards lossI believe 2 or 3 times
The 2nd half offense was every bit as futile as Howard. Were it not for the 75 yard lightning strike we’d have had <50 yards of offense. We only got 3 1st downs in the 2nd half.I didn't see the game. Snelsire's runs (11 runs for 20 yards, long 14 with 1 TD) closely matches Wickersham's (14 runs for 25 yards, long of 20,with 1 TD) in the Lehigh game. It looks like the coaches have learned little in the last 7 games. We seem to be reverting to form and not opening up the play book, even though Snelsire has better field vision and better mobility.
Apparently the Spider football mantra is modeled after the shampoo marketing campaign to sell twice as much product. The 2nd half offense was every bit as futile as Howard. Were it not for the 75 yard lightning strike we’d have had <50 yards of offense. We only got 3 1st downs in the 2nd half.
As several others have mentioned, It was clear when we didn’t even take a shot to score at TD inside the 10 yard line at the end of the 1st half that the offensive playbook had been closed.
The amount of pressure this type of thinking puts on the defense is ridiculous!
But you know what? Somehow we won the game! It’s crazy.
Go Spiders!

Royalty, there is a lot to unpack in your comment. The 2nd half offense was every bit as futile as Howard. Were it not for the 75 yard lightning strike we’d have had <50 yards of offense. We only got 3 1st downs in the 2nd half.

Agreed and those Reid defenses, relative to the times, were very, very good (I'd argue quite a bit better than our current defense although offenses back then were still much more run heavy). Coach Reid's best teams also featured true running Qb's who could really hurt you with their legs. I really wish that Huesman would hire a dedicated OC like when he hired Cosh to mange the offensive scheme and QB play/ development. There are plenty of examples of defensive minded head coaches who delegate that side of the ball effectively. The constant evaluation and reliance on 16 doesn't give me a lot of confidence in our offensive direction going forward. Same with the hiring of Jacob as OC (It's less any nepotism issues and more that they both share the insistence on a QB run style offense without recruiting a dangerous running QB). We all saw what Coleman provided for the offense over the past two seasons with the ability to throw the ball and his play was out of necessity not plan. Our offense of today reminds me of the Jim Reid era when offense was the laggard and defense was the mainstay. Each were/are effectively defensive coordinators impersonating head coaches.
Sean Gustus out of DeMatha and classmate of Michael Westbrook was a prototypical QB on a Jim Reid team.Agreed and those Reid defenses, relative to the times, were very, very good (I'd argue quite a bit better than our current defense although offenses back then were still much more run heavy). Jimmy Miles who I believe was from George Wythe HS in Richmond was also a successful Reid QB during that defensive era.Sean Gustus out of DeMatha and classmate of Michael Westbrook was a prototypical QB on a Jim Reid team.

Jimmy Miles had a run where we defeated I believe, Nova, Delaware and William and Mary on consecutive Saturdays scoring 30/40 points each game. Y'all being hard on these boys. Just win the game. Ha! Who were the OCs?
Go Spiders!
No disrespect to Jimmie Miles. He was a winner and perfect fit for Reid’s offense and a star player in his teams.Jimmy Miles had a run where we defeated I believe, Nova, Delaware and William and Mary on consecutive Saturdays scoring 30/40 points each game.
