Are we sure we aren’t as bad as Loyola?About to be in a 4-way tie for 10th with only Loyola behind us.

Johnson is a poor ball handler and today had some poor lazy passes and only 3 points. So frustrating to watch Johnston
We had a game today?
No we went back to the fucking matchup zone and we don’t hedge any screen thus leaving Tyne stuck on Cochran.Went back to man to man, Cochran drive to the basket for 3 point play.
They got FTs cause they attacked the lane. Lopez and Daughtery were only ones that did that for usThey took 42 FTs to our 15. They went 34-42 and we went 13-15 from the line. We also had no answer for Cochrane.
Agree. And yes not great defensive talent, but enough that we shouldn't let them drive to point blank 95% of the time. This may be one of the worse Spider teams I have seen on defense.
It’s a combination of talent and scheme, but coach is responsible for bothAgree. And yes not great defensive talent, but enough that we shouldn't let them drive to point blank 95% of the time.
Speaking of AP. I don't think he played today???? Last game vs Davidson 12 mins. Seems his time has been reduced. Is he in Mooney's doghouse, Mooney shortening the lineup, or has Mooney moved on from him?No we went back to the fucking matchup zone and we don’t hedge any screen thus leaving Tyne stuck on Cochran.
I would have put AP on him just to create more height he had to shoot over. Rams were 34 - 42 from FT and shot 10 less shots then us from the field. This may be one of the worse Spider teams I have seen on defense.
I really can’t stand watching him get so many minutes every game. I supposed with AA out we don’t have many other options. But this season he has had 4 or 5 great games, and 20ish really poor performances. I’d honestly rather see Tyne out there, at least he has another year of eligibilityJohnston is a poor ball handler and today had some poor lazy passes and only 3 points.
When he is on, the guy can shoot lights out. But when he's not, he can't find the rim. Too inconsistent.Johnson is a poor ball handler and today had some poor lazy passes and only 3 points.
We have far better talent than last year but run a terrible defensive system. It’s hard to win when you can’t stop whoever you’re playing against and you’re pretty much relying on them beating themselves. To end 5-13 is a pretty low bar. That means we only win 2 more games going 2-6. We still have St Bon & Loy Chi on the schedule - both below us in standings which should be givens. I'd hope the coach who is the all time leader in wins for UR basketball history can deliver more than 2 wins to close the season. As it stands, it looks like our OOC soft schedule did 0 to prepare us for conference play. What baffles me is that it seems like the talent level is much better for us this year than last.
You would think we could've used his length and defense in the second half during their free throw parade.I would have put AP on him just to create more height he had to shoot over.
I feel like the way Mooney coaches takes all the aggression out of players that have talent…especially at the end of games. Coach’s “beautiful” system (which gets praised by every tv announcer) doesn’t work against opponents who are more aggressive and athletic (which is basically every opponent outside of Southern Virginia). It’s not that the players aren’t trying but the system effectively softens the team (lack of rebounding, not drawing fouls, not playing strong defense). Occasionally we will have a player like Kevin Anderson who can overcome this with his sheer will and skill but usually not.We have far better talent than last year but run a terrible defensive system. Summary: We lost in traditional fashion.Missed this game. I was watching our flagship sport (men’s lacrosse) take care of business against Robert Morris instead. Will also plan to watch our other flagship sport (women’s basketball) in about an hour. Anyone want to summarize this game?
It’s a loose term.We have a defensive system?
