Fire Mooney

These games are essentially meaningless. We’re basically playing for tourney seeding and perhaps some small amount of pride. That’s about it.
Yes. Except that the team is not getting better, building momentum and gelling. If you play a horrible OOC it's to stack wins, get confident and find your rhythm as a team, set your rotations and get better every game as guys get familiar with roles, expectations and figure out how to make winning plays. Is that happening? No.

Tyne - regressing
Walz - mercurial and light years from an all-A10 level player on a game by game basis. Just as likely to score 2 as to hit double digits.
Johnston - also mercurial, but less so. The shots he's getting seem to be worse now than earlier this year though.
4th starter - still unknown, rotating through players 20 games in. (We literally cannot figure out who to start in game 20. Sigh.)
Lopez - clearly a scorer, needs shots, touches. The most known quantity in this five IMO.

And those are the starters.

Who, other than Argabright, is playing better now than a month ago? Maybe Thomas? Daughty has had a bunch of rough games in league, Beagle same, Tanner is out of the rotation, AP still is a guaranteed miss if he shoots the ball and Robinson is a freshman tweener trying to find a role. I guess Harper has emerged as a shooter and scorer.

The coaching is the same/worse - again, not giving Aiden the ball at the 1m mark last night - when he had been scoring and drawing fouls all game...baffling. Coaching in SLU game brought back memories of UR's guards getting abused by Samhan in the NCAA tournament...in 2010.

It's tough to say a guy is better than he was when he had only played 13 total minutes or whatever it was, but I know what you mean - he is performing, whereas before he was not even getting on the court. He might have been ready a month ago for all I know but they just kept playing others. I didn't know he had mono tho, heard that last night for the first time.

Leaving the game last night I heard a kid's voice in the concourse chanting "Fire Mooney" for almost a full minute. I said jokingly to my son that Mooney should probably remain our coach for another 12 years or so, and a red-sweater overheard me and muttered "More like another 12 hours."
This is crazy that kids are picking up on Mooney's lack of success and just plain mediocrity. Wild, but I like it.

Simply no way he should survive tonight's outing to see another one. He has run a once proud program into the ground. And the worst part isn't just that he allowed it to happen on his watch, but he seemingly talked himself into it with all his ramblings about how hard it is now to ______ (fill in the blank: recruit, schedule, keep people etc. etc.). And this years OOC was just another step - - - we can't compete so won't even really try. And it took awhile, but he's convinced the players. They play like he scheduled - - we can't compete so we'll just concede.

Its disgusting and pathetic and that its been allowed to come to this is on way more than Mooney (and I am looking at PQ square in the face - among others). They need to fix their mistakes ASAP - starting with Mooney has coached his last game. Period. The end.

Genuinely asking. Is there anything we can do as fans or no matter what it’s ultimately whatever Queally feels like doing at the end of the day?

I was never a fan of the billboard and definitely not advocating for something like that now, but it was a gesture nonetheless from fans to voice displeasure. There was also a petition started by an old poster here several years ago. I’m sure many fans have sent emails to the AD in the past too.

So honest question here, is there absolutely anything that can be done that even the AD has to recognize that this is a sinking ship?

To say it’s been disheartening seeing my beloved Spiders basketball program be in this shape is an understatement. If our AD doesn’t make the efforts to rectify this, and just hope next year will suddenly be better, I might just give up on this team and athletic department all together. That’s not something I thought I’d ever say.

Next step go to President and Trustees.

Hardt calls PQ into his office and say Paul, I’ve had your back but this has got to stop! Paul with finger to forehead and says you know what all hat? I think you are right and slinks out of Hardt’s office never to be seen on campus again!!! Oh wait, it was just a dream…. Fu@k!

Will they listen to people who don’t donate millions of dollars?

Right now it feels like we’re strapped down to a chair and forced to watch something that clearly is not working. There’s been a lot of bad performances in the robins center over the years but this might honestly have been the worst one I’ve ever seen.

There is no way anyone can honestly come here and say that next year will be any better. Basketball is very important to the school, community, and alumni. We have a rich history. This simply cannot be our ceiling.
