Around the A10

Good article about GW’s renewed focus on basketball. Apparently they sold out their exhibition vs Georgetown. Sounds like there is quite a bit of excitement. Also, GW has a significant focus on student engagement according to the article. Definitely not happening at UR.

Last alignment between the University President, AD and coach. Sounds like they want to remain in the top 4.

So we’re slow paced and super inefficient? Idk that I’d say either of those things but I suspect there’s some data behind this.
Yeah that's what the preseason model projects using KenPom data but not sure exactly how that works?

Here is what he posted as his reply tweet to qualify the graphic:
Grains of Salt...

#1 its preseason... so much of this will change so fast.

#2 Using KenPom data & its all projections. Dont think KP data is spot on for pace/tempo either.

#3 KP data is a little off of what I normally use so the numbers slightly differ & the variances are a little off for the shape itself but I would say its done with 95% confidence relative to the KP data. Also moves for national landscape averages a bit too.

It's a fun graphic and that guy puts out some good content, especially leading up to March Madness. Let's hope both the pace and efficiency are proven to be better.

All the sudden the A10 is getting quite a bit of hype about getting back to a 3 bid league. First I heard Matt Norlander of CBS Sports predict 3 teams in the tournament and listening to the podcast below, Giannini generates quite a bit of excitement with at least 8 of the teams in the A10. Of course, UR comes in at 10. The podcast definitely got me excited for some A10 basketball. I just have to survive the Spider OOC first !!

Also, the JRob train has left the station:

“The freshman redshirt last year, I believe Robinson, 6'9, 230. They sat him out last year because he was a raw athlete.

He had a double double against James Madison. He may be the breakout guy. He is a stunning athlete, like not only an NBA type athlete, but an NFL type.

He looks like an edge rusher. And he might be a guy that one month ago, no one was talking about, that one month from now, we all might be talking about.”

Like it - Go JRob.

Section9, do you believe he will be one of the many young guys over the years that CM should have found minutes for playing time? Or is he a breakout player that CM can’t bury on the bench?

I’m not Section9, but I was at the game also and here is my $0.02. One exhibition game is dangerous to use for predictions, but it appears that JRob will definitely get time. How much time is hard to say as it could be a split time situation at the 4 or more time if the Spiders played 2 traditional forwards together (Daughtry being the other). With the weak OOC schedule I definitely can’t see him getting buried on the bench.

Yeah - agree with what Native said. Just one scrimmage but given what he showed (and what others didn't) have you think he will average at least 15 minutes a game.

Sounds like he was our best player on the court the other night. You don't find 15 mpg for that, you find 30.
At one point I think he picked up 3 fouls in less than 2 minutes. Minutes might be low early in the season due to things like this
