Walk-on
Just heard that he’s going to be back. Commanded enormous sum, but fought off Creighton who offered 900.
Hope it is true - and for me with this crazy current model, he should get compensated for what the market dictates. Just read that High Point had something like 4M NIL to work with this year and hope we are at least at that level next year. And if so, would think that our best returning player getting 25% of so of that pot is reasonable.I have no idea if spiderinsider is legit or not. I asked this account several questions and never got a response, even a response saying “I don’t know” or “don’t want to disclose that info”.
However, if AA did get paid $900K for next year, as much as I love what he’s done for our team and think he has the potential to be a fantastic player, we are grossly overpaying him by $400-500K. Even with an increase in our payroll this upcoming season, we still need to spend it wisely.
If this is true, part of me thinks we overspent to keep AA to save face because it would’ve been a terrible look for us to have kept Mooney and then have our best player transfer in what will practically be a complete rebuild next season.
I don’t know the intricacies of the NIL market and all that goes behind it. Of course, someone’s value will be whatever a team is willing to offer. A player being good for a team is also relative and dependent on the expectations they have for the player. Maybe Creighton offered that much because they wanted a back-up PG and we offered that because we know he’s going to be a starter and the impact he has on our team will be greater than on Creighton.Hope it is true - and for me with this crazy current model, he should get compensated for what the market dictates. If Creighton offered $900K how much do you think we would’ve realistically offered at a minimum? Even with him being a hometown kid, getting a lot of playing time next year, likes the school, staff, teammates, will get talented players next year, etc. I’m sure there was still a minimum threshold we would meet. If true, $900K is hard to turn down if our offer was much lower than that. Not suggesting that money is the only thing a player considers but it certainly is a big piece of the puzzle.insider didn't say we're paying him $900k. said that's what Creighton offered. as we've said, despite the losses he's in a really good situation for a small guard here. I assume we were able to convince him that we'll be adding real talent in the portal with the increased NIL.
this is great news.
Lose the Richard Simmons with a rat-tail look alikeGlad we could match a $900 offer. I would have kicked in $50 myself to put us over the top.Hopefully two of his conditions to return were a new coaching staff and band.
don't know. every kid is different. Schertz talks about Avila not looking for the most dollars. Doogan said staying at UR for less was the best decision for her.If Creighton offered $900K how much do you think we would’ve realistically offered at a minimum? I can vouch for Spiderinsider. He's Mooney's father's brother's nephew's cousin's former roommate. With that tight of a connection you know it's true.I have no idea if spiderinsider is legit or not.
