The Rams have pushed 1 across in the top of the ninth but leave the bases loaded. Spiders take game 1. 6-1

Spiders hoping for another strong pitching outing today. Yesterday, Chase Topolski, Chayse Gruber and Dom Ruggiero combined to keep the Rams bats from having any big innings. Let’s Go Spiders!

Spiders give up an unearned run in the top of the first. Trailing 1-0 the Spider bats come alive and get 6 runs and chase the Rhody starter without them getting an out recorded. Big double by Elko, RBI singles by Scanlon and Schaller.

Spiders up 9-1 after an inning of play. Joey Giordano on the mound today for the Spiders.

After 2 innings Spiders up 10-1. Noah Haught with an RBI single.

Rhody triples in a run in the top of the 3rd inning but the Spiders answer right back as a Chris Schaller double plates another run and the Spiders up 11-2 after 3 innings.

Spiders get a lead off Triple from Noah Haught, an RBI single from Dylan , and a 2 run homer from Sean Scanlon to keep the pressure on Rhody and now lead 14-2 after 4 innings.

Trevor Dosenbach pinch hitting in the bottom of the 7th triples and picks up 2 RBI’s and all Spiders 17-2 after 7 innings.

Spiders get the win 17-2. Only use Giordano and then Dylan Siesky out of the pen today. Great job! Time to go for a Sweep!

Shifting to Mac Pitt. This man almost single handedly kept Spider sports alive with virtually no income for decades. As a freshman in the early 70s, saw him walk the grounds daily. A delightful person embodying the best of what it means to be a Spider.

I was there also at that time and good friends with his grandson, Sutt, who was a true Spider.

I feel the same and just knowing how successful this program was with conference championships and NCAA tournament berths.
I recently saw a video from a sports journalist naming the “Nicest Guy” they ever met covering the MLB. Who else, but “The Mayor” , Sean Casey.
