2026 running baseball thread

Game 2 is underway in Philly. Evan Wilson lead off the top of the first with a HR and the Spider bats started working but Explorer pitching would settle in and hold the Spiders to 2 runs.
Joey Giordano is on the hill for the Spiders and the Explorers used a single and a stolen base and another single to cut the lead to 2-1 after 1 inning.

Spiders keep the hit parade going in the top of the 2nd. Kennedy and Haught with back to back singles and then a wild pitch. Wilson picks up an RBI on a groundout to put Spiders up 3-1. Then Elko singles home Haught 4-1, and then a Dylan Winebrenner 2 run Homer gives the Spiders a 6-1 lead after 1.5 innings.

Top of the 4th the Spiders load the bases on walks and the Explorers walk in a run with 2 out to make it 7-2. Then an Aidan O’Keefe double plates 2 and the third runner is thrown out trying to score. Spiders 9-2 after 3.5 innings.

Explorers pick up another run in the bottom of the 5th on another solo HR. Spiders still on top 6-4 after 5.5 innings and Giordano still on the mound.

Explorers have kept chipping away. With the Spiders leading 9-4 bottom of the sixth and 2 out the Explorers got a solo HR to make it 9-5 then chased Giordano with 2 runners on and singled home another run and used a Spider error to tighten the score to 9-7 Spiders after 6 innings.

Top of the 8th leading 9-7 the Spiders get some much needed insurance runs. With one out Elko walked stole 2nd and Winebrenner was intentionally walked then a big RBI single from K. Morris knocks in Elko. Then R. Recio singles in Winebrenner. After our pinch runner is picked off stealing third O Keefe walks and Chris Schaller homers to center. After a Kennedy walk a Haught double brings that run in and the Spiders lead 15-7 headed to Bottom of 8th.

Top of the 9th Michael Elko triples and then comes in on a passed ball. 16-7 Spiders and the Explorers go quietly in the bottom of the 9th. Final 16-7 Spiders get the series win and now have the opportunity for a sweep tomorrow.

Typically I don’t watch any regular season college baseball, but I had some time this afternoon.

I found the game on ESPN+ and watched a little of this action, but watching a game from one fixed camera wasn’t enough to keep my attention. How many broadcasts are like this?

Nice job today. Had three games going at once at ESPN+, what a great option for college baseball. Let's win on Saturday and head home with a sweep!

LaSalle's broadcast was sharp, but tough to follow with a fixed camera. Our games are done in a high-quality fashion.

The better the league, the better the broadcast. There are some fixed camera broadcasts in the MAAC. Canisius does a pretty good job but they also have a good sports media program.

I have watched some games on ESPN, but today was the first time on ESPN+. Having watched plenty of basketball on E+, I know the broadcast quality varies quite a bit, but wondered what was typical for baseball since a good broadcast would need multiple cameras.

I don't think there is anything "typical."

Spiders will attempt the sweep today in Philly. Jackson Hinchliffe on the mound for this one. Spiders go quietly in the top of the first inning. Explorers go 3 up and 3 down as well so scoreless after 1 inning.

Spiders on the scoreboard first in the Top 2nd. Freshman Chris Schaller continues hitting well with a Triple and scores on a sacrifice fly by RJ Rickabaugh. Spiders 1-0 going to bottom of the 2nd.

Spiders get a go ahead run in the top of the 5th to go ahead 2-1. With 1 out Noah Harvey was HBP then Evan Wilson walked. Michael Elko with an RBI single. Explorers cut down Wilson going to third base but the Spiders chase the Explorer starter. Headed to BOT of 5th.
