2025-2026 - NET, Rankings, Polls, Awards

I hope you are right 17. I am sure it is even harder (we know moon man IT IS SO HARD) to scheduel top competition coming off a bad year - but again all these other mid majors get games - we just have to try harder. So maybe a good season will make it a little easier.

That is an impressive 50 plus point jump. Our next 5 games are against 2 Q3 teams and 3 Q4 teams. IF we were to win all of those games, I think we would roll into the conference with a NET probably in the 60's. Which would make the conference season mighty interesting.

The problem is our schedule leaves us zero room for error, one loss and we probably are back around triple digit terrority. Also William and Mary NET right now is at 50, which is obviously unsustainable but my goodness.
Agreed and for a change think our A10 schedule is favorable for both having Q1 games and some of our home/away teams (GW, GMU, VCU, Bonnie, Davidson) being strong teams. @SLU certainly also will likely be Q1 and glad we are playing Dayton at home. Of course this only matters if we keep winning thru December and hopefully with good metrics and nice margins.

I think the opposite potentially. What I can see happening is we do well in A10 with maybe a 13-5 record or so with solid wins and no bad losses, but get left out of at large discussion because of our bad OOC strength of schedule. The A10 has done its part this year so far in terms of setting itself up as a multi bid league:

It’ll be a wake up call that had we scheduled even a halfway decent schedule this year - and good likelihood of winning those games since this team seems legit - we could be talking at large.

If this does in fact happen where we get left out of at large after having good A10 record and Richmond schedules yet another awful OOC next year, that’ll be 3 years in a row and will tell me that Richmond actually doesn’t care about making the NCAAs, we just want to feel good about ourselves with a high winning percentage beating up on bad teams.
We have a long way to go for this to even be a discussion point. But assuming we get there to have this discussion, I think every talking head will openly filet our OOC schedule as pathetic and the reason we don't deserve an at large.

People are getting a bit ahead of themselves here. The team had a great road win last night, and deserves a lot of praise for that. We are probably going to finish 6th in the A10 and our OOC schedule is not going to have any impact on our post season.
You may be right, but so far our guards are playing out very much like hoped in the preseason. I mentioned we could possibly have a legit four guard rotation with AJ, Tyne, Will and Thomas. Well AA stepped right into the room and brings an element to his game the others don't quite have and elevated the group. So that gives us a chance.

Daughtry has been very good at times, however I think we are going to need a little step up from the entire front court rotation of Beagle/Daughtry/Walz/Tanner/Jrob in A10 play to out perform your 6th place prediction.

I do have worries how that group will hold up defensively in the A10 - as good as Belmont is I think VCU and some others will have more athletic front lines, and SLU has the Vanilla Thrilla. I like Beagle's play so far too, just very active and getting boards and challenging and finishing inside.

Agree, and the stupid D3 game just adds to it. The NET and everything else that matters will show 30 games instead of 31 at the end of the year, drawing even more attention to our schedule.

Today’s NET Rankings: St. Louis #34, GM #40, GW #48, vcu #54, URI #77, Spiders #78, St. Bona #88 et c.

What stands out are the last two stats (offensive & defensive rebounding). Rebounding is a beautiful thing. Hopefully it will continue to be an emphasis this season as it pays good dividends.

I have to give AP some credit. He is playing some really good defense and rebounding the ball well. I don't mind him on the court so long as he is surrounded by 4 good offensive players. I think he knows his secret to getting time is to not shoot the ball.

Other observation, Aiden is not starting but he sure is closing the game for us. Very interesting that it is he not Tyne on the court at the end of the game.

I know we are playing this equalitarian minutes distribution with 10-11 guys right now but to me there is one guy you want on the court as much as he you can and that is Aiden. Yes, he makes some freshman mistakes but his playing making ability, basketball IQ, are a step above everyone else. I think CM is managing it well right now giving him more important roles and time in the game, but I would just hope that would continue even more as the season progresses.

Agree about AP. He is doing a lot of good things on the court now. It's nice to have some quality depth on the team.

I saw listened to that interview with Aiden. I was wondering how he feels after the games, the way he draws some hard fouls and so often. I think the minutes management is good for him this season, to help keep him in one piece and healthy. I think next season, as hegts a little stronger and even more savvy, he can shoulder more minutes.

equalitarian? The key to making up new words is leaving no doubt what you meant. Bravo...

Good point. Aiden has a slight build and the A10 games are going to be more physical. Looks like 2025-2026 is the season of change and I too like the new strategy. It works with this group of Spiders.
