I have no idea how they calculate best athletic facilities. I love that we are being recognized for it, but I am sure its most accurate by the eye test. Alabama was ranked below us on this list. I think their football and basketball facilities are a little nicer than ours...
 
I was admitted in Feb., 1972, primarily (I think) because of decent board scores (1180, very solid at the time before SAT score inflation) and geographic diversity. UR was beginning its quest to expand the geographic footprint of its student body; I was a borderline candidate for admission, and it took a New Yorker over another Virginian.

No way could I get in today with that weak a resume. They would immediately chuck my application into the discard file. UR is so much better today than when I attended, and I'm grateful.
