We're officially doomed

more NIL should absolutely yield better results. I'm willing to bet the top 25 doesn't have more than a handful of teams (if any) not paying say top 50 in NIL.

Mooney isn't Mark "more with less" Schmidt. and we're not SBU. we shouldn't be handcuffing ourselves with a budget NIL program. and going forward, it sounds like we won't.
Should is the operative word here. Coaching plays a big part of that in terms of recruiting, developing players, and having an offensive/defensive system that is effective.

Kentucky spent $22 million to finish 10-8 and tied for 7th in the SEC with an overall record of 19-12. Just because a team spends more does not mean they will be first. Just because teams spend less NIL doesn’t mean they’ll finish worse than higher paying teams. I don’t think anyone will disagree that having more NIL cannot hurt and is only a net positive if used effectively but it is not the sole reasons why we’ve been so bad and when Mooney/PQ/admin harp on being materially outspent it either suggests they truly believe that this is the only reasons we are bad or they want to ignore the other non-financial related reasons.

that's an interesting list. without going back and looking, I always considered Vanderbilt an SEC cellar-dweller until NIL became a thing. kind of surprised they invested like this.

UGA, LSU, and Bama spend everything on Football and so were a little short?

first off, it's crazy so many kids have agents. guess the money is big enough.

but an agent's job is to garner interest. that's their full time job, to reach out to EVERY coach to maximize offers and NIL. it doesn't have anything to do with a kid's actual interest in UR. the kid is in the background waiting.
Agreed, but CM is positioning it a bit as they’re interested in UR. My reaction to listening to this comment was that it was partly a commentary on the wackiness that is NIL but also, hey we’re a real desirable destination.

But I agree, pretty meaningless, especially if no one we want is in the masses.

The question becomes of what interest is there from top shelf players given supposed increase in our NIL? Answer is probably very little interest. Then question becomes how good are players we might get? My guess is Mooney gets players from lower level leagues. Maybe we get an achiever that provides value added. But then again, we are currently a lower level team so fit from lower level teams is what we can get.

It’s obvious with what we have returning and incoming freshmen, Mooney needs to make a big splash. But if he doesn’t, he knows there’s no repercussions. Just another year.

Apparently at least 500. Or it could be 1 agent texting him 500 times.

Probably because we will have nearly all of our roster spots, rotation spots, and starting spots available. And, why even discuss this one minute after losing your last game of the season? How about addressing that later and talking about the seniors who just played their last game, thanks to your awful coaching.
