I don’t follow FCS football closely, but read that Illinois St was #6 in the preseason polls. Sounds like they underperformed during the regular season on the defensive side of the ball. Now both sides are clicking and thus winning. Should be a good championship game.

This Illinois State team reminds me of the 2008 Spiders who had a similar run.

Illinois State almost pulled it off...scored two TDs in the fourth and were attempting a 38-yard FG with a minute left to take the lead but it got blocked, so the game went to OT. Illinois State then drew first blood there with another TD, but their PAT got blocked and Montana State responded with a TD of their own and made their PAT. 35–34 Bobcats.

Hell of game. Thought Bobcats had better team, but out coached by the Redbirds, Lot more entertaining than beating Southern VA in MBB.

The game was a classic! It seemed like the Bobcats would run away with this one after the Taco Dowler TD put them up by 14. But that Redbird group is a gritty bunch and you feel for their QB Tommy Rittenhouse who wanted to go for it on 4th down and 1 and get it closer and maybe score a TD in regulation. (especially as shaky as their kicking game was.)
