If we’re spending NIL $ on portal players, I’d hope they’d be in the rotation. If not, then what’s the purpose of bringing them here?

This dude didn't even start at Monmouth in the CAA, why in the world would he be a starter for us next year. I really hope he is a depth piece for us, ala like Harris was a few years ago.

Agree. The last 2 years, I have called us a mid tier CAA team. We have already seen rotation players transfer down to Buffalo and Ga St. And maybe Stoney Brook. So, clearly mid tier CAA team is an accurate take. We still need to add enough talent to change that this year. Pretty inexcusable if we don't.

100% right. And I have zero confidence we will add enough to be competitive. I also have zero confidence CM can even identify the right pieces to bring in. Roster construction has been a major issue. Obviously you need talent but pieces have to fit and compliment each other.

I hear you, at least this guy is 6'9 and apparently likes to play defense. A lot of our guys last year were very one dimensional. Ball seems like he has some versatility.

I probably wasn't clear. as the roster stands today he's probably a starter. I do hope we'll add another big forward who beats him out as a starter. but I believe Ball will play and be a good piece.

edit: just saw the McCaffrey news. let them compete, but maybe we found our starting PF.

Going back to the original post. If a guy isn't in the rotation, that tells me he shouldn't be here. If that's the case, we shouldn't be going after players like that in the first place. And definitely not giving projected practice players or mop up duty guys any NIL $. Not saying this guy is or isn't. If guys don't want to come here unless they get money, and if they aren't going to really benefit us in a meaningful way, then pass. I was addressing your original premise.

with 15 guys, 5-6 aren't going to play. you don't 100% know who those will be though. and some will develop over time.

Thank goodness this board is here to remind our marketing dept of what they need to do and proofread their work after they do it. We should be getting some type of stipend at this point for our work.

Well, in the end I am happy to have Ball signed up. Adds much needed experience and depth inside. Had some pretty good improvement last season from previous, so I am glad to have him.
