Its very interesting that Rousell's name hasn't really even come up much specifically on any job. I think he was on generic lists of candidates early on, but not really on any specific job as their searches progressed. Leads me to believe he declined to even discuss jobs (or at least any of these) this off season!

I think everything is trending UP with the Women’s basketball program at Richmond and that is a nice place to be. I remember 10 years ago watching us play a very good UVA team and attendance was like 750. We are now getting more than that for A-10 games. We had the big Red Out game success. There was no Pep Band at women’s games years ago and then just “big games” now at most games AND traveling to the NCAA tournament. There were no beer sales and it looks like that was added this year for women’s games. I think because everything is on an upward trajectory the University is recognizing that and starting to move more resources that way.

This is great.

Maybe at some point we can commit to winning in men's basketball too.

Was at Cardinal O’Hara yesterday to see a community musical my granddaughters were in.
Felt like I was on hallowed ground and looking remembrances of Maggie Doogan.

With the UVA job opening up, this is how I rank things.

1. Northwestern - hired someone else

3. UVA

Georgia job is opening too. These two are concerning because they are good jobs, not the drek that was open previously.

Georgia and Virginia both made the NCAA tournament. Virginia has a big sugar daddy couple, maybe they didn't like the coach.

Good programs will always have other teams interested in the coach. Comes with the territory with the success. Coach Roussell’s response to JOC after our loss to Nebraska about the support he’s had here and not chasing greener pastures seemed genuine. Him making efforts to immediately go see 2 impact freshmen next year is also a good sign.

Like I’ve said a million times, give this man the resources to succeed. UVA was operating with $750K budget. Northwestern is having a million budget for recruiting. If our school can give Mooney $4 million for a roster then surely we can give $750K-1 million budget for women's basketball to keep up with P4s.

There are a ton of very good transfers in the portal right now. We are 2-3 key portal recruits and development of incoming freshmen and rising sophomores away from being even better. Momentum for this program is at an all time high.

UVa would be very concerning, but that job coming open this late and after the success would also probably be concerning to Roussell. Now, if the issue is she did something untoward or committed a violation etc. then UVA will make that known and it would probably not be a hinderance to any candidates.

This one is worrisome.

Lots of good MM head coaches out there. Coaches for Harvard, Columbia, and JMU are some that fit academic profile or geographic region as well. Reading UVA’s forum? Jenny Boucek is a name thrown out there. UVA alum. Current assistant coach at Indiana Pacers. I’m not just saying this because I want Roussell to stay here, but after reading her bio more, Boucek actually would be quite a good hire for them.

Some UVA fans seem to think Dawn Staley, who is a UVA, alum will leave South Carolina to go there. Highly doubt that. I’m sure Tammi Reiss wished this would’ve been announced sooner (probably delayed because of sweet 16 run). As an alum, I’m sure she would’ve taken that job over Florida.

Former Hoo Jenny Boucek would be a good hire for them. Reading the UVA Streaking the Lawn website they say there was some rumored discontent behind the scenes. It seems to suggest Tammi Reiss would probably have been the target if she had not accepted the Florida job. Previously, Staley has stated she would not take the UVA job even though some of the fan base would like that.
