Nice article and podcast (which is embedded in the article) with coach Chemotti about recruiting. Started off talking about UR recruiting and what they look for, Chemotti’s role with the July 4th dead period extension. He talked about how Richard’s is primary on defense and another coach focuses just on goalie. Towards the end was the most interesting parts. Chemotti talked about how just because the new house settlement can go up to 48 scholarships that this idea that all the top lacrosse schools will suddenly jump to that is not true. He talked about the top 1-2% increasing by a couple of scholarships. My favorite part was at the end when Chemotti talked about how Richmond really cares about men’s lacrosse. We are at 12.6 scholarships but he mentioned that the number can increase on a case-by-case basis if needed. Sounds like we are on par with the elite teams.
Spiders now up to five, 4-star recruits in class of 2027 including Nolan Wieczorek, who is not updated on the Richmond inside lacrosse recruiting website yet.
