Game Thread - Citadel @ RC - Sat 12/20 6pm ESPN+

The Bulldogs from Charleston come in at 3–7, but 0–7 against D1 competition. They lost to Davidson by 16 and most recently fell to a down CofC team by 4.

To me, the bigger question isn’t whether we win this game, but whether we make any changes to the starting lineup. This also feels like the last opportunity to do so proactively, rather than being forced into changes later by a 3 or 4 game skid once A-10 play begins.

Not 3-0, 0-9? Or is ASUN not D1 conference? ;)

I watched some of the Davidson vs Temple game last night. Davidson is not a good team.

Should be another big win and I don’t expect any changes to lineups. Can’t see any benefit of changing as I don’t think any “positive results” would be able to be carried over to other games. What should happen is that we see minutes for the players who have been on the bench, like McGlothlin and Harper (assuming there are no physical issues as there were the last time such a game occurred). Thus, the only change may be a reduction in minutes for some of the regular rotation.

I feel like this should be a blow out. We are favored by 20. Possible let down spot for Citadel - they were in the game the whole way against local (rival ?) Charleston last game before losing. We are coming off a dreadful turnover filled game, hopefully coming out hungry. I think we win by 20+.

Very underwhelming performance so far. Unsurprisingly, Citadel has gone zone and we have looked unsettled on offense.

Also, all it took was one possession to start the 2H and Mooney immediately went to sub Tanner out for Daughtry. If your leash is that short, you shouldn’t be starting in the first place.

Wow, I was expecting to spend more time reading the game thread this morning.

That was Tanner’s best game as a Spider. Was nice to see him look more comfortable and aggressive getting to the hoop. Beagle and Johnston combining for 1 shot is also not what I had on my expected outcomes for this one.

36 more points from the bench. They continue to come in and make a difference. At the end of the day we did what was expected of us.

Everybody enjoy the holidays and let’s get back to it on the 28th.

Yep, between the holidays and "schedule malaise" not a ton of excitement.

Walz had a good game, I was killing him after his one TO - because it was the classsic guy is not open at all and I'll try to pass it directly through the defense b/c I think i am a great passer TO. But other than that one, thought he played with a lot of energy. He, Beagle and Daughtry all looked good. Really interested to see if they can keep it up in A10 play. If so think we can make some noise.

Agree with Ply, really thought one of Tanner's better games. Interesting note, looked like the "zone plan" was to put either Tanner or AJ at the foul line to catch and shoot an uncontested 15 footer.

Crazy with our back court from game to game as to who is getting shots and scoring. Good and bad I think. It is nice to have options and make the scouting report harder. But on the other hand it would be nice to get some more consistent scoring threat from guys. Thought the team came out with good focus and bounce back. Announcers mentioned that Mooney had three practices and a lot of running on Thursday :)
