we're just not very good.
Again, you are giving the coach a free pass. You should have said "our coach is not good". We just lost a 2nd time to a now 9-23 Loyola team who has a NET of 289. We had a 15 point lead, so we were good enough to do that, but we have a coach who has no clue how to protect a lead.
I checked the score and saw it was close, so I turned it on at 69-67, and the 1st play I saw was an easy iso layup for Loyola where he beat Tanner and we had no one near the rim to help. In other words, the same terrible defense we have played down the stretch all year. Then, down 4, we ran an awful offensive set, again, like we have seen all year. It is the same clueless stuff from our clueless coach. We can debate how good or bad we are ( I agree we are not good), but it is inexcusable to lose to this Loyola team once, and we did it twice, along with 10 other Q3/Q4 losses this year. We had more talent than all of those teams and should maybe lose once to them, yet we dropped 12 of these games this year.
Also, if you really want to make this all about talent ( even though as I just said we lost 12 Q3/Q4 games where we had more talent), the coach is 100% responsible for the roster. And for coaching the guys on the roster. For finding the right fits. For starting the right guys, subbing appropriately, giving them their best chance to succeed on offense and defense. Making it harder for teams to coach against our guys. I feel really bad for our guys. I really do. Our coach let them down. This was possibly the worst coaching job in all of D1 this year. Every time I watched us, we had issues that were coaching related.
