I have no idea if spiderinsider is legit or not. I asked this account several questions and never got a response, even a response saying “I don’t know” or “don’t want to disclose that info”.
Guys first post was that Homenick looks like he will be a stud for us. I haven’t believed a word he said since then.

Maybe he’s optimistic but ya can see why it would be taken with a grain of salt since he redshirted this year on a very mediocre team. We’ve had some insiders over the years share a more positive spin on things too. I appreciate the effort to try and bring some positivity. UR80s fan most recently and Ulla back in the days. Hope they’re doing well!

I have no problem paying AA to stay; I hope we did and I hope he stays. But I have a large six figure problem if that is anywhere near the amount for one year. Unless you are the star player on a team that is in the Top 25 for the entire season, no 20 year old is worth that much.

And, I don't think AA fits Creighton's style of play. They usually play taller guys who can shoot the 3. AA very well might be back, but why wouldn't he either announce his return himself, or, if he already has offers from other teams, why not wait and see what else is offered?

Right, no use making any commitments yet. May as well let the market develop a little bit and find out your worth. Some players can get squeezed out, but the very talented ones I think the price movement is mostly upward.

There is uncertainty as to whether McDermott might retire and they are playing in the crown. It would be really significant if they were making offers already as it would seem like a decision was made one way or another about McDermotts future.

Maybe, maybe not. He seems to have handpicked his successor. Coach in waiting is in place. Either guy, they need players. Most teams are working on that lome crazy now, not waiting until spring to figure it out a la Mooney. The stuff mooney says just confirms he has no clue. Better to let them think your an idiot, instead of opening your mouth....... Something like that.

If we gave AA $750K then I feel confident we are operating with at least $4 million. All those guys I’ve listed in the other thread as guys we should go after are probably going to be getting $750K-$1 million offers at minimum. We all know we’re going to need as many impact level guys as we can get. So assuming we get 1-2 impact guys and then also thinking about other starters and bench guys getting NIL, our total budget is adding up quickly.

If this is true, part of me thinks we overspent to keep AA to save face because it would’ve been a terrible look for us to have kept Mooney and then have our best player transfer in what will practically be a complete rebuild next season.
Apparently AA found a good agent. Sounds like UR overpaid if the figures are true.

The market is too new is the excuse, but it seems like the floor of a deal like this one is equivalent to an NBA 2 way contract. There are possibly 90 of those in all the NBA for all positions and I can’t imagine one of them going to a small PG. No doubt that AA was Richmond’s best player last year, but I don’t think he is worth the reported money.
I like that he’s betting on himself by just taking the one year deal. But I hate that it’s just become almost pure free agency.
100%. This is a terrible outcome for college basketball where all that can be counted on is a one year deal. Then you have a “system program” like UR and it is going to be a lottery every year. Not looking like a fun program to follow.

whatever he got, AA was in a ridiculously strong negotiating position based on what we have coming back.
CM couldn't afford to lose him.
Like I said. I think we were willing to go higher than we would’ve if he was just a random recruit in the portal because it would be a very bad look for our best player to leave and have a complete rebuild next year.

Not sure we can be a successful team if AA is getting like half the NIL budget. Of course if that is the market rate, we just straight up shouldn’t expect to be competitive if AA’s market rate is half our NIL budget.

I'm afraid if you want true amateur level basketball you're going to have to follow D2 or D3. D1 has become a pool of P5 piranhas and the rest are minnows waiting to be eaten.
