Newest thing to discuss comes from Episode 3 of Spiders Sound Off podcast and Mooney's comment "Advancing in the tournament is easier than getting into the tournament".
Haven’t heard this statement before and I can get onboard with this comment. The problem of course is that UR did not do anything to attempt to improve the “making” part this coming season. Setup as a must win the A10 tournament year.

It's hard to make the tournament with an 8-22 season.

Very true. Hard to argue with history and all the trends (OOC schedule, A10 ranking) are pointing in the wrong direction too.

If Dan Geriot has a successful 2, perhaps 3, seasons at Iona, im betting he replaces Mooney. CM then most like becomes AD at UR or takes an administrative position at school.
If Hovde wins the Ivy, he's a rock star and should be hired immediately.
Columbia is to the Ivy's what Fordham is to the A10. huge disadvantage recruiting against Harvard, Princeton and Yale.

pretty unlikely, but the extension is easily on the table. Its been proven in the past all he needs is an NIT bid. He'll get one of those in the next 3 years

Sorry G man. You are right, Coach Mooney has proven himself to be a super motivated tactician that has proven himself to be a step ahead of the competition year after year. Adaptability and forward thinking are the name of his game. If not for the severe limitations his mega donor friend and the administration put in place we would be a mid major power. Total agreement that most posters on this board are out of line. My hope with the new board is that all these efforts to recruit more fans only bring the "real fans" and not just the carry over disgruntled fans from the old board.

The board old heads we are missing, among others, seem to be 4700, Gkiller, and Trap. Unless they are lying in wait under new board names

Will say that after 4700's return, much to G's chagrin I imagine, he seemed to sour big time on moon. I think a litmus test with 4700 this season will be the usage of Tyne. Again, I am pulling for, and hoping that Tyne took a big jump this offseason. But if we get the same kind of production, or lack thereof, as last season - not sure moon will make the switch. And as I stated in another thread, this poor OOC will unfortunately mask issues, and not expedite the need to have best players play. In addition to all the other reasons to dislike this OOC, I think that is number one - it will mask issues until we get to A10 play.

And additionally, the answer is no. We see all these other teams playing these games - teams better, same, worse than us. We don't. Unless Mooney just did not call them?
