At Davidson

4700 - I made a similar point at some point this season. The back door layup we get every other game gets called out by the announcers too - wow there is the Princeton offense. Very hard to defend. Right. I actually liked what we doing very early in the season - which seemed to be quick ball movement and shoot the first open 3. Again, may have been the competition, but heck I posted numbers early in the season and we must have had 4 guys shooting 45% from 3 for awhile. Seems like right after Belmont we began to revert. That game turned out to be fools gold.
It takes at least 6 years to learn the Princeton Offense.

Yep, he is young but he wasn't born yesterday.

I am guessing the Martelli Family Mafia (not be confused with #FMM Fire Mooney Mafia) already has feelers out. You want to play for up and coming coach. Check. You want to play for a top mid major program that does have connections to play top teams in the OOC. Check. What ever they are offering NIL, we will up by 100K. Check. You want real fans not #RealFans. Check.

We keep keeping on with Mooney and we deserve what we get.
I guess it's "we", but not many posting here would allow him back...so the "we" really are the few that keep him here. Certainly not us.

Agree, there is not much that "we" can do about it - we are just pawns in the PQ / Mooney CYO league.

Mooney's postgame pressers always amaze. 100% of coaches who give postgame pressers after they lose a big game or are on a big losing streaks are going to be visibly upset in some capacity. That doesn't mean they have to drop a bunch of f bombs or throw players on the bus, but damn sure you need to show that losing bothers you. It literally never seems to bother Mooney and of course he isn't aided by Bob Black sugarcoating every single loss by reciting all of the things we did so well in losing.

I hear these announcers keep talking about how we are running a version of the Princeton offense, and I guess that is what we "try" to run, but teams know this and take us out of it right away. Our reaction is to pass the ball around the perimeter, and end up with a low percentage 2 point shot as the clock is winding down. Not sure any Princeton offense ever wanted that. No back doors, very few open 3s, no drives to the basket, tough 2s....seriously, what the F are we running out there?
our offense isn't killing it but it's still not the big problem.

in conference games we're still the 2nd best 3 pt shooting team percentage-wise. we're not as good from 2. we don't have a Golden, Quinn or Cline to kill you in there. I wish we'd have fed Beagle or Daughtry more inside, as it's not Walz's game. we do shoot too many tough 2's.

but the problem AGAIN is on defense where we've given up the 2nd most 2's and the 2nd most 3's in the conference! you know which teams have the best 3 pt defense? SLU, VCU, and GMU. funny how that mirrors the standings. our rebounding margin is -7.4 ... while the next worst is LaSalle at -2.8

same problems, different year.

we are scoring 72 points per game in conference, good for 7th in league. Last night we had 52 points with 2:50 left in the game (after having 49 points with 10m left.)

we are 12th in defense in conference, giving up 76.2/game.

I agree the defense is not good but the offense is not helping, mainly bc of the Moonball sets being trash. If 3s go cold or we are not pushing pace and shooting quickly, it goes to mush.

I agree that we can’t make assumptions on if AA will transfer based off our season’s results and what discussion will be had with the staff. Same way we can’t assume McGlothin will transfer because of lack of playing time. It would be foolish to think that other teams haven’t reached out to AA’s agent or the the thought hasn’t crossed his mind either though. So it is a possibility and so keeping him here is priority #1 this off season.
Fwiw, I think if CM loses Aiden, that’s more likely to accelerate a coaching change than anything else. UR can polish the turd of a schedule and turdesque record but it’s hard to cover for your shiniest star departing.

I hope you’re right, but I have no confidence that H, H, Q will do anything other than let his contract run through duration. Too many bad decisions with him over 21 years in spite everything related to bb program, and he’s still here.

This is kind of my thought. We are not going to be good next year even with Aiden. But if we lose him, we are probably looking at a repeat of last year. Three years in a row of absolute crap will probably do the trick.

Alternatively, if AA puts his name in the portal, after the season, does CM just say eff it, I'm done ala TB. I think he and his family are too addicted to the easy paycheck, but every man has his limits.

It's a pipe dream that he would step down. A) waiting for his sons B) BINGO - easiest $1.5 million in the industry. He is not leaving that gravy train. Currently he is plotting which novel to read while lounging on the beach this off season.

Almost March, and the buzz is palpable in Spider basketball land.

Sorry 97. I do have that dream once in a while but then the reality of Hardt and PQ and roaring silence of March, April, May, June, July set in and nothing happens.

You can second guess the decisions, recruiting, etc. but I promise you its not for a lack of effort.

Where do we stand on 2nd chance points? Has to be at or near bottom.

Who cares? This is a bottom-line business. If you work really hard at what you do but you suck at it, you get fired. I don't want to go to a dentist who works really hard but drills a hole in my ear instead of my tooth, and I don't want a coach who works really hard but goes 9-24 in conference games.
