Around the A10

this is the non conference schedule of a program that begins each season expecting to battle for the A-10 Championship and a NCAA Tournament bid...it respects the long history of the program; its loyal fans; and its players...

apparently Richmond has intentionally given up playing a schedule that creates opportunities, excitement and interest...its hard to understand how we could let a "flagship" program become so unappealing!

Will the best non conference game of our season, the JMU exhibition, be open and free for any fans with enough interest to attend?

Go Spiders!

Anthony Grant's schedule tells Dayton fans he thinks he's got a very good team that can compete with the best teams in the country.
Mooney's schedule tells UR fans he's not sure he's got a very good team. It is what it is.

I'm going to give Mooney credit and assume he knows what he's got. He probably scheduled appropriately, giving this team a chance to gel and gain confidence for the A10 season. There's no point playing a killer schedule if you're going to go 3-10. Everyone would be miserable. Billboards would go up. Put up a good record against a bad schedule and at least people will have some hope for a good A10 season. Obviously an at-large isn't happening. That's not the goal with a schedule like this.

I get your points kind of. But regardless of Moon’s expectations based upon what he thinks we may or may not have on the court, we need to at least schedule at the mediocre level for the team and for fans. And mediocre is not a high bar. This schedule he or staff put together is weak, unacceptable, and an embarrassment. Two years running now, and maybe this year’s schedule OOC is worse than last year????

If Mooney is trying to schedule down on purpose he should be fired yesterday. Just listened to Hurley interview. Talked about getting his butt kicked first few years but always trying to get best possible OOC games because it forced him to prepare harder. Just listen to any of the good coaches and programs talk about scheduling, all say the same thing. Mooney whines like a little b.

We're trying to beat GW at their own game...go 11–2 against a Charmin-soft OOC schedule and then go 9–9 in A-10 play and bam...a 20-win season.
I was thinking the same thing. maybe that's the blueprint. seems to have turned GW around. a lot of hype for GW this season.

I won't go compare to the others, but I think we were solid winners.
adding Daughtry, Lopez, Johnston and Thomas seems like a pretty nice haul.
only lost Soulis and Graham I think.
