Argabright coming back (confirmed)

AA being paid extra to say he couldn’t see himself playing for anyone other than Mooney.

All jokes aside, it’s great that he’s coming back! He will be an integral part of the team next year and hopefully this will help the staff recruit other top players more easily.

Not a huge amount of insight. AA said there was never a question in his mind that he wanted to come back, but they didn't get into the money issue at all. Said he thinks Mooney is a great coach, said the team needs guys who play hard, he didn't think everyone played hard this year.

AA is a dawg who wants to win. I suspect if we don't win next year, he's gone, and I wouldn't blame him at all.

Hardt must have paid him an extra $100k to include that quote about not wanting to play for anyone other than Mooney...
I like his game a lot & am glad he returns, but I've been watching Moon's teams for 21 years, and I just don't understand the "not wanting to play for anyone other than Mooney". There are oodles of coaches that would coach AA much better & also give him a better chance to get to NCAA's.

I have mixed feelings on this news. Obviously good news for AA with a big bump in pay and a starting role next year.

As discussed before, AA had all the leverage as he was the only bright spot on last year’s roster. Mooney had to resign him or the culture narrative goes out the window. The now deleted post saying it is a one year deal is concerning, but is today’s standard practice for players.

It will be interesting to see what type of leader AA can be and of course the season is going to depend on all the other pieces of the puzzle. I have essentially 0 confidence that UR will be better than a 7th place team, but what an improvement that would be over being in the bottom 4! /s

It’s news, but expected news and the big difference is the amount of money exchanged to keep a rising sophomore.

we're coming off 2 awful seasons. and the really good seasons have been few and far between. way too few, but we have had some.
it's not like a great PG can't be part of a special team here ... like Gilly, and King, and others.

some here think we were talented enough to finish top 4 last year if not for Mooney. I disagree. I think our talent was closer to the bottom of the league than the top. and yes, that absolutely falls on Mooney. and whatever talent we had, Mooney didn't get the most of it.

but there's some serious turnover next season, with a bunch of new freshmen and at least 2 big transfers. even if it is just the 2, I can work with that. a really skilled legitimate big man and a stud on the wing, plus AA? I can fill around that with role players and win. hopefully Mooney can too.

Yep this was a must get for Mooney. Still a whole lot of work to do.

Loving playing for Mooney has a lot of levels. Some guys like the culture of comfort.

I think the smallish guards like the freedom he gives them. I think in this case we had that factor and the hometown angle .

Sman, I dont think that is accurate, three good players and a lot of fillers. Mooney has won when we have 8 or 9 good players. Many a year we have had 4 or 5 which left massive holes which I pointed out before the year. I am very interested to see if he tries to get some legitimate two way guys with athleticism. Even with increased budget, really going to need a couole returner to really be impactful, especially best if it were JRob and Richardson. Seems like a wide gap to get there based on returners on roster now.

well yeah, I do need something from the fillers. but it's not like we don't have anything there. if the bulk of the offense comes from a big 3, you can have guys filling roles. Robinson can be an athlete next to an all around center. Daughtry is a solid piece if he stays. our wings can be fine in a secondary role.
