competing from behind, the story of moonball. it's a real underdog story for the princeton grad who now leads a basketball centric school with a $4b endowment and great resources.

First we couldn't admit the same level of players as them because of our stricter (self-imposed) academic standards.
Then we couldn't recruit as well because we didn't have as new an arena.
Then because we didn't have a new practice facility.
Then because we didn't have the same type of fan support.
Then because they had a better resume of NCAA appearances. (Wonder why?)
Now because we can't spend as much on players.
Any others I've missed?

I watched the first minute of Mooney's post game. I can't even believe the emphasis on second half effort. LOL. What about the part where we got blown out first half due to poor effort. THen just when we get back in the game we revert to terrible plays and execution - leaving best three point shooter wide open in the corner, missing open layups etc. Bad Mooney. Bad Mooney.

I had to laugh when on the radio postgame, Mooney said something to the effect of, “getting the guys to play with energy for a whole game starts with the coaches.” How about, “I am the head coach, it starts with me” ? There is never any accountability from him. Just whine and moan and more excuses.

Yes, its crazy the amount of deflection he does. If you follow other top programs, the most part the HC is taking the blame and making promises to fix things. Mooney is heavier on the blame/excuses game than 90% of coaches out there. His leafy campus friend enables the hell out of him.
Sad part is that I don't even care anymore. I watched the last 10 mins. I knew exactly what was going to happen, even when we closed to 2 points with 6 left. The timeout during the middle of the run was ridiculous especially when you consider the lack of execution out of CM timeouts again and again. It is consistently so bad it's hard to believe. I knew VCU would out-execute CM down the stretch and that's exactly what happened, again.

Well, the JOC / PQ NIL lack of fund PR hit happened, so 2 more years of cover. Same time frame I have been stating for some time. We are looking for improvement in the 27-28 season. That will allow time to rebuild via HS recruits and the scrape up enough money to buy good two way players in the portal. Whooppeee.

You forgot because they’re bigger and have a larger alumni base.
And they are urban, while we’re leafy.
I’m sure I’m forgetting a couple.
