Jonathan Beagle - Senior - Eligibility ends after '25-26 season

6'10", 250 lb senior. Beagle is another wildcard for me based on how first season at UR played out. At times, he looked like he could be a high-impact player. Other times—especially toward the end of the season—he seemed to slip into the role of third center off the bench.

That drop was reflected in his minutes: after averaging over 30 minutes per game during his two years at Albany, he averaged under 16 minutes per game with the Spiders. Ironically, in our two double-overtime games, he showed flashes of what he could do—he played 33 minutes and scored 23 points on 6-of-8 shooting with 8 boards in the loss to Bucknell on November 16. But by March 1, he logged just 4 minutes and didn’t score in the loss to Dayton (and unless I’m forgetting something, he wasn’t injured).

Even so, his overall stat line was one of our better ones on a team with few good stats lines—7 points per game, 55% from the field, and second on the team in total assists.

I think a lot of us wanted to see both Walz and Beagle on the court at the same time for some extended run. It basically never happened—aside from a few very short stretches—and I wish we could hope for that again this year, but I’m not optimistic.

Purposely showing highlights from his sophomore year when we all excited to hear he was coming to the RVA.

Good summary. Beagle’s disappearance at the end of the season had me thinking that he would transfer, but he didn’t and the Spiders lost Soulis instead. He showed some flashes of offense and Spider fans have to hope that is output is more consistent this year. With the horrific OOC schedule, I expect to see the good version at the beginning of the season and have to hope that lots of confidence is gained and carries over to the A10 portion. Since Beagle has been in the system a year and is a senior, now is the time to impress. Sounds like the podcast guys have gotten to see some practices so I am looking forward to hearing their reports.
