Agreed, I would bet on it indeed being a buy game for Rhody. Team quality doesn't factor into the rules of brutality, but people continue to not understand that. Regardless, they're still games you really rather not lose. I mean, maybe if you could convince a big-name team to come in and you can sell out your arena and take an L, but that doesn't happen these days. So instead you're paying McNeese for a game where your arena is less than half full, and you still lose.

yeah a very good game, but you got to win that game if you are Rhode island. You get that high of a NET team into your own building.

Yeah, McNeese is solid. Not a bad loss for sure. I'm sure also a game Rhody and the league would have loved to have though.
In my book McNeese St doesn’t exactly qualify for his favorite treatment. I do understand that losing a game where there is a payment is less than ideal, but this one isn’t in the same vein to me. Plus, I just find it old and tired. He needs new content.
McNeese won 28 games last year, and beat Clemson in the dance. Seems crazy this would be a buy game and not a home and home. RI AD should offer home and home before paying them. I would think a road game at a high NET McNeese team would make sense. And, you don't have to spend $.
My question would be why are u paying them? If your arena is half full, why pay such a good team like McNeese? Maybe they did pay them, but seems like a bad decision and money not well spent if they did.

I am surprised McNeese is any good this season. Oh, you can lose a coach and get another good one...hmmmm. Anyway, not know who replaced him, but they lost Wade and I think he took top 2 players with him to state. Rhody just had a bad 20 point loss to what looks like another mediocre Kim English Providence team.
Some schools can get a new coach and new players and not miss a beat.
A very light day for college hoops, but a couple of impact games for us. Most notably, St. Joe's is hanging right with Syracuse coming up on midway through the second half, so let's see if the Hawks can pull this one out. (Edit: Nope, 'Cuse is pulling away down the stretch.)
On the OOC side, ECU was almost doubled up by App State at the half, cut the deficit to one with 7 minutes left, and then scored four points the rest of the way.

I think the rationale is to avoid the return trip to Louisiana next year and the cost for doing so.
I read that McNeese had only played URI once before ... at URI 12 years ago.
They did home and homes with Ga St and Milwaukee in 22 and 23. Maybe they did agree to a home and home with McNeese. Do we definitely know they didn't? Not sure it makes sense to avoid the cost of a trip next year, but still pay McNeese for their trip this year. Why not just home and home if you are gonna do that?
